Act I of this ballet was not Romeo & Juliet. There was no warning or explanation either. It was bizarre. Beautiful white-dressed dancers came out and did a 45 min. production of . . . I have no idea. During Intermission, there was a rumble of the audience wondering if we are at the right performance!
We took 4 children (ages 9-13) to see this ballet because we had just studied it at home. They were bored and wondering what was going on. The attendants/ushers were calming everyone and reassuring us that it would be Romeo & Juliet for the second act. Sure enough, when the curtains opened back up, the scenery was different, and the costumes were in the correct era!
The R&J production was fabulous. Much emotion, drama, action! Beautiful! I just wish they could have spread it out into the two acts or omitted the first act. They didn't mesh together at all in my opinion.

Favorite moment: when Romeo comes to Juliet's room and they embrace and connect; beautiful romance, without being too steamy for kids @
