The area was a bit packed, easy parking, tons of fun. Got close to the stage, maybe ten feet, awesome sound quality and volume. The only thing I will say I did not like was the fact Lacey was to quiet, but other that that everything was awesome. I had a great time and the Middle East is a pretty convenient place in terms of access.

Favorite moment: At the end of the show, Lacey got up on the stage to talk about a song and then got the entire audience to chant along with her. @
Setlist: Setlist was fantastic. They played a lot of my old favorites from their original album and lots of my new favorites from their Memento Mori album as well. @
Opening act(s): The opening act Paper Tongues were pretty good. The band really got into the music and performed very well. Singer had a very unique voice that was strong and perfectly fit to the music. Bassist and drummer were beautiful! @

I have always been a fan of Flyleaf since their first album, but I had never had the privilege of seeing them live. The small venue really allowed the audience to interact with the band, and the band was very personable during their show. They played a great setlist, mixing the old with the new so fans of the original album could appreciate some of the music. Lacey looked gorgeous and performed great, and the rest of the band really got into the show with tons of personality and awesome music. All in all I have to say this was a fantastic concert and a great start to their Memento Mori tour. I would definitely see them again!!!!! I would've given them 5 stars but the acoustics in the place were horrible and everything was so loud that unless you knew the lyrics you had no idea what was being sung. A lot of the audience was very rude as well and seemed to have been overserved at the bar with a few people sneaking in their own liquor bottles as well. Band was great, venue was dirty, cramped and full of drunk idiots at an all ages show.

I've loved Flyleaf for years. I took my brother and a friend to the show and we all loved it. I've been waiting and wanting to see them awile, and really glad i finally got to. I also love Lacey. It amazes me how a voice like that can come from a body that small. She's so beautiful and after watching them, I somehow love her even more!!

If you enjoy listening to Flyleaf at all, seeing them in concert is awesome! They performed very well and kept my intrigue throughout the concert. The location was also an excellent concert location because if you were near the front you were literally feet away from the band and even the people in the back were closer than other concert venues allow.

The location was perfect and I love the small venues they are much more personal. The atmosphere was perfect. The bands were a great compliment to each other. Open age was perfect to bring the kids. Keep up the great work booking these bands.

Flyleaf's venue at the Varsity Theater was very beautiful. The stage, the lighting, the building overall in general was gorgeous. Flyleaf's performance was also way above par. From Lacey's speech about how she was given life by giving her life to God, to Sameers skeleton hoodie that glowed in the dark, and Pat jumping off of everything that he could climb on top of. The show was flawless!
We stuck around and waited by their tour bus after the concert and each and every band member came out to greet us. They signed autographs and took pictures with everyone that was there. They thanked all of the fans for helping them be where they were. They were all very humble and appreciative to each individual that they met.
From performance to people Flyleaf was the most amazing concert ever and I am thankful for them as artists.

The opening band was called kidnapped kings and they were really good, flyleaf came out and had a great show. I really liked the step up and the whole performance, but they played some new songs which was great but ya I liked it. I wish the bass wasn't so loud, I couldn't hear the singers very much

Unfortunately, the sound quality was horrible. You could not hear Laceys voice at all in the songs and the drums were very muffled. The only thing I could hear was the guitar. Would have been an AWESOME show had the sound quality not have sucked.

They were great, only problems were the lack of encore and no mosh pit.
Lacy specifically said that they don't do encores which was extremely lame.
When you go to a show at a smaller venue, you're more likely to get something signed.
Varsity was closed less than an hour after the show and the band just disappeared.
If you just want to see a band, nothing more, it was a great show. If you're looking for more, prepare to be disappointed.

The show was awesome, the opening band was absolutely amazing their piano player/singer was probably the best piano player i have ever seen. The Varsity Theater is a great venue, it's a very classy looking establishment, a small stage but very close to the crowd and the lighting was first class. Flyleaf was unbelievable, the lighting was fantastic. I was amazed that such a small venue could put on such a good show. This was my second time seeing Flyleaf, I saw them earlier this year at Rock The River. This was far better, which is saying a lot. I was only five or six feet from the stage, which made this a unforgettable experience. Flyleaf was right on musically, and they were very entertaining. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Flyleaf. If you are thinking of seeing a show at the Varsity Theater... go to it! You will not regret it.

I'm glad I didn't know until the day of the show that this is a christian band.....I would never have gone had I know sooner (or bought any cd's for that matter) However, they put on a rockin show! what a great voice! plus, the opening band Paper Tongue's were awesome. The el rey is a neat little venue, and the food from next door was pleasantly surprising, who knew curry would be such a good addition to french fries and cheddar cheese?

Not so into the opening band, but Flyleaf put on an amazing show.. even if I did feel like parts of it were a bit churchy for me.. dedicating a song to "Jesus Christ" is a bit much. Nonetheless great show, good songs. Very positive. Enjoyed that LOVED the Venue! will definitely be going there again!
