As a college student, I was a little unsure if this would make a good date, being a musical and all, and thought it was a risky call. I was very happy that I went with my gut on this one because we laughed our asses off (along with everybody else). This show also provides some valuable life commentary underneath all the hilarity. I'd highly recommend this show to just about anybody, and nobody should decide against this show because of stereotypes of musicals, because this show shatters them.

Avenue Q was a great show, put on by a very versatile and fast-thinking cast. The jokes were very late-20s oriented, lots of college humor. Very fresh, very intelligent. My only complaint would be that it relied too much on shock value, and some of the jokes were beaten near to death. Know what you're getting into before seeing it - although very funny, with the wrong company it could be an awkward disaster. We have a fun audience, they "got it" the whole time, and had a blast.

Great show, amazingly talented cast. I smiled and laughed the whole time. Wished that the colonial theater has more spacious seats though... I'm 5ft tall and even my legs felt cramped.

Very funny adult puppet show.. Great job of dealing will almost all of today's issues.. 20-30 years olds can relate almost exactly.. Great show.. Have seen in 3 times and would go again..

We brought our 15-year-old son for his birthday and he loved it! It was right up his alley with the adult themes and irreverent comedy. Very cute, touching and at times uproariously funny. The actors were very talented and fun to watch. I wouldn't recommend this for all teenagers, but ours is mature for his age.

The jokes and the songs are really funny and undeniably catchy. I loved "It Sucks To Be Me" and "The Internet Is For Porn." It was fun and lively throughout, don't miss it.

This was a fantastic show. The theater was small enough that any seat in he orchestra would be a good one. The actors were phenomenal and the show content was stuff I could relate to being a 30 year old. I really enjoyed myself and I hate musicals usually.

If you're a college student or a recent grad, you'll probably really love this show.. But aside from the actors doing a phenomenal performance, singing and puppetry.. felt this show was not super witty.. not super smart dialogue.. really just average. Didn't give me any side splitting laughter.. But those younger member of the audience seemed to love it.. In my early 40s.. so don't consider myselt too out of it! But was truly disappointed and was expecting a lot more from a Tony award winning show!

I had seen this on Broadway in New York before and this was almost just as good. The Puppetteers were very talented vocally and physically. Hopefully they will come to Charleston again.

I've loved the Ave Q album for years, so when I saw it was coming to Charleston, I was thrilled. It was amazing! Even if you have the album memorized, there are still great surprises and the cast was a very talented crew. I was also very pleased that the tour made sure that children would not be in the audience, because these puppets are not for kids.

Irreverent and touching on the major societal taboos this was a wonderful way to make audience members think. And maybe even change their behaviors. Go! if you have the chance, spend the money even if you don't have it and learn why, "It sucks to be me!" Learn what schadenfreude is and commisurate with all your fellow schadenfreudiacs.

Fantastic show!! I'd love to see it again. Incredible talent onstage and in the writing. Unique, creative entertaining, fun!! Better go with an open mind, and if you can't laugh at yourself and life in general, just stay home. Not a show for kids - keep that in mind. Make this a date night for grown-ups.

Previously I had heard many of the Ave. Q songs online and had a couple expectations of the actual musical. I could not wait to see it for real!
We (my group) sat down and talked about what we were expecting and excited about. After the lights dimmed and the audience hushed, the magic began.
From start to finish this play was awesome!
I was absolutely awe-struck by the performance and wound up singing along to all of the songs. All the actors and puppeteers were amazing and the choreography was spot on. The effects really threw me through a loop: I never expected it would be so simple, but breath taking.
The over-all story line is touching and reflects on a lot of aspects of everyday life. We though it was hilarious how everyone in our group was 22 and the majority of the characters were 22 as well. Almost all issues that were brought up have affected us in some way. It is great that the actors use puppets (and tv's) to aid in conveying a humorous twist on the hardships of life.
