My boyfriend and I took our Mother's for their birthday's. They loved it! The food was great and the Gospel music wasn't what we expected. It was Contemporary. They even did a tribute to Michael Jackson along with Lean on Me. The music was upbeat and fun. I would recommend it, especially to those who are already Gospel fans!

This was the fourth time I had attended the HOB Gospel Brunch and was sadly disappointed. For the price you pay you get plastic plates, utensils, and cups. No one came to ask our drink order as promised, we had to get our own. Not real OJ, in Florida, it was Tang like. The food was average at best and the pecan pie was aWeFuL. The group that sang was wonderful, but they sounded like they were having a contest on who could sing the loudest or hold the longest note. Did not sing the Gospel standards all would recognize and would want to "get on your feet" for, they wanted you to do that a lot.

The energy and spirit was contagious. We loved the music, the food, and the House of Blues was full of history displayed through wonderful artwork and ambiance. I'm so glad we experienced it!

I have been all over the world and seen many performances, productions etc. I have always wanted to attend the Gospel Brunch. I never really could find anyone interested in going. Finally, I get a group together.

What a disappointment! The food was below average except the mac and cheese. The entertainment, I've been to high school talent shows with more talent. The group sang so loud, you couldn't hear the lyrics and all the music sounded the same. The MC was so not funny.

The place was half empty, not sure if that's due to the economy or the word has spread that this is just a big waste of time.

Our brunch at the House of Blues was okay, not great. The brunch only lasts 90 minutes (45 minutes of brunch + 45 minutes of live music). Everything at brunch is self serve, including the coffee, so it takes most of the brunch time to stand in the lines at each food station and beverage bar. No lights illuminate the food stations, so guests forge in the dark to serve themselves which really slows down the self service. The entertainment was a quartet with a lead singer. The entertainers work hard to get everyone on their feet, clapping and participating in their act, so it is impossible to eat and enjoy the music. So, . . . . get in line early to be among the first seated at brunch, hurry to fill your plate and get a cup of coffee because you must be finished eating before the music starts. For me it was too much rushing around to be a fun experience. The food was okay, nothing to brag about. The ticket is $34 plus tax+fee, all for 90 minutes. Go once and you can say, "Been there, done that!"

This was my 2nd visit to the House of Blues for the gospel brunch. It is a great thing to do if you visiting Chicago or even if you already live there and want to do something different. The price is a bit steep. The food is just excellent with many many things to choose form on the buffet. The enertainment varies from week to week so you are at the mercy of the group that is scheduled. the first group was a large vocal choir with several solo acts. They were amazing. the 2nd group was a smaller group and they didn't do as much interaction and only had one soloist. The show seemed very short as well. I do recommend this to anyone because it is a moving experience but I'd ask around to make sure you get a very good group that will entertain you.

food was good, but they dont give you time to eat! you are too busy participating with the show to eat, or go up for seconds. The music was good, but unlike the photo above there were only 6 musicians and they maybe sang 5 songs. The performance was great and the singers had good energy. Very gospelly but spirited and uplifting.

The music was very inspiring and though it was Gospel music it was put to songs and music that was more contemporary and non-Gospel. The music was excellent and the singing was inspiring. I would have given the show a 5 star except I felt like I was being rushed to eat and finish up before the show started. Food was good but I would have liked to take a little more time to eat.

We went to the Gospel Brunch at HOB in Orlando, and were told to be there by 10:00 for 10:30 seating. The doors didn't even open until about 10:15, and then it took FOREVER for them to check tickets and filter into the building. When we FINELY got seated, and through the buffet, we only had about 10 minutes to eat before the show started...and then they expected people to stand up, clap, and get "into" the music. Some others sitting at our table were towards the end of the line, and JUST sat down and didn't even get a chance to start to eat before the entertainment started. They were standing there clapping, all the time eye-balling their food that was getting cold.

Also, the club was dark with funky purple lighting before the entertainment started, which turned all your food purple. It was kind of disconcerting.

The only plus side, is the entertainment was really good.

If you go to this brunch, be sure to be one of the first people in line, so you can get your food and start eating before the show starts. It's all-you-can-eat, but it's really inconvenient to to get up and get refills during the show.

The number of food choices , along with the taste and the presentation ,were beyond expectations.

Seating, when purchasing two tickets, should be with the ability to sit beside the person who is attending with you, rather than across from you. Fortunately, the two seats beside us were empty, so I was able to switch and sit beside my guest.

The gospel show was a bit much--too loud, along with poor voice quality. Forcing the young man to participate that did not stand up when rquested was also a bit much. I was raised in the Baptist Church, so good gospel music is not foreign to me. I was really expecting a higher quality performance, especially at the House of Blues!

The food and my guest made for a pleasurable and memorable birthday experience .

The singing was excellent as was the food. The only negative for me was the woman who came out into the audience with the microphone and tried to get people to sing while they were eating. I thought that was totally inappropriate and took away from the enjoyment of the event.

My wife suggested we attend this. i did not really know what to expect. It was increible. The food was pure heaven. Then music, fellowship, and atmosphere was energizing.
The songs and revenend approach to the "church service" was a moving experience. It seemed to be designed to touch everyone on some level. We especially like "Amazing Grace".

The House of Blues was an excellent place. Big, nice decorations, good service.
The food of the brunch was perfect. Great variety, tasty and all you want to eat.

But the show, even if it was good, was not at the same level. Very poor and very short. We expected a large choir, better soloists, more variety. Too much money for that show.
