It was not good that the show was advertised for 8:00PM at Showbox at the Market, but the main act wasn'l going to be on stage until 10:00PM. Would have preferred to just see Sharon Jones and the DK's rather than sit in the bar to wait for the doors to open, sit for a boring lead off duet and the REAL SHOW wasn't starting for a couple hours..

Sharon Jones always puts on an amazing show. A solid two hours of dancing around the stage and belting out great songs. She is so much fun to watch and gets everyone dancing - this show was no exception. I especially loved hearing the Dapettes sing at the beginning. However, there were some problems with the monitors that Sharon was trying to communicate to the sound people, and was getting clearly frustrated as the show went on with no improvement. I would think a venue like the Bowery would be able to fix something like that if it's noticeably detracting from the show. That took away from the first few songs, but eventually she got into her groove and gave up on waiting for it to get fixed.

Sharon Jones is one of the most authentic, energetic and soulful performers I have come to know (through her music) in my lifetime. Her raw talent and sensational band (the legendary Dap Kings who formally performed with Amy Winehouse) are nothing short of impressive. If you have not seen Sharon Jones, you are missing one of the real greats!

This was the best show I have seen in years.
Sharon Jones is an amazing performer that defies description.
The Dap-Kings are super tight and never miss.
This was so much more than a concert it is great music and showmanship.
You have to see these guys.

Aside from the incredible music Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings play with their heart and soul, the performance and showmanship of this group is top 5 I've ever seen. The energy fills the room and promises to entertain. You MUST see this group live, they will NOT disappoint! If you're luck you may even get to dance on stage...

Highest energy show my wife and I have attended in a while. We were on our feet the entire show, dancing to the groove laid down by the Dap-Kings. A very polished group of musicians. We might catch them again in SF with My Morning Jacket.

The Uptown is a world-class venue for live music.

We caught Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings at the Uptown Theater in Napa on November 17, 2011. Security was tight going in, but we figured, that's good, right? An excellent cross-section crowd of young (age limit is 21 due to the bar) to senior and conservative to hip. Lots of derby's on the guys in the crowd...loved that! Our seats were perfect. We were in the front of the "balcony", row N. Unobstructed view...however all the seats at the Uptown are good. The warm up band was actually pretty good, however, the lead singer was all in red, including a cape and derby, which frankly looked more like a Halloween costume than super cool. I found it distracting and a bit annoying.
Sharon Jones came out to dance while the warm up band sang. She's a pretty wild woman...good dancer, full of spirit. After a short intermission, The Dap-kings, et.al., performance was exciting, bluesy, intense and upbeat. A tight group. But as the night wore on (they don't take a break!) it seemed the music became louder and louder until I began to have sharp pains in my ears and I had to cover them to protect my eardrums. (Two days later, the ringing has improved). Over all it was a good show, I wish I could say I had that much energy, but WAY too repetitive. They have a schtick...pretty much one schtick...and they schtick too it. So, there was this one song about a train...I didn't watch the clock, but I am guessing it was at least 20 minutes long, maybe thirty. The crowd loved it...we left...and the train STILL wasn't in the station yet.

Had never seen or even heard of her before but was told by many to see her if given the chance. I went with a friend who aptly nicknamed her Sharon "Jesus" Jones. The woman literally looks like she is dancing on water. Incredibly engaged with her audience and by far one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time.

I had the most amazing time. That woman is dynamite. She did not stop moving for the entire performance. And not just swaying, no she was shimmying/shaking/boogaloo and mash potatoing the ENTIRE evening. My my what a show!
