My mother and I enjoyed it very much. I would recommend it to a friend. My mom is a senior citizen and she loved the colors, the music and the presentation of the ballet. She was very pleased.

A wonderful production with lovely costumes, sets, and accomplished young dancers, Westide Ballet's Nutcracker is an annual tradition for our family. Great for families, it's the perfect start to the holiday season!

Everyone knows the story of the Nutcracker so there are no surprises. This production had beautiful costumes and sets but the dancing was at times perfunctory. Most lacking was the Gran Pas de Deux with the Sugarplum Fairy. The cavalier looked like a robot counting his moves. We were waiting for some memorable coreography for this highlight of the dance and it never came. It really lacked emotion throughout.

My wife and I loved the performance of the Nutcracker. Considering the youth of most of the performers, it was quite well done. You could tell that they all took it very seriously. And, I am sure rehearsed it over and over. It showed in the results! We go to several venues in L.A. during the year, and classical ballet is our favorite. The Westside Ballet School should be very proud of the entire production (casting, correography, lighting, costumes, staging, etc.).

I was very disappointed in this production. There were too many people on that small stage at one time. The ballet was poor. I felt I was at a recital in stead of a professional production. My granddaughter and I left after the intermission. It was not just me she also was very bored with the show.

I agree with an earlier reviewer that you can't beat Westside Ballet's Nutcracker. Yes, it's a pre-professional company, but it's impeccably produced and they use many professional guest artists to play the advanced and solo roles. You get a professionally produced show for half of what you'd pay to see the Nutcracker at most other venues. It's also the traditional story -- no variations, so it's something to take your kids to see or for anyone who wants to see the original. I've seen it the last 2 years in a row and I plan to go again this year.

Last year, my daughter and I saw both this performance and that of LA Ballet. Given the price difference, I found this performance to be extremely entertaining and a tremendous value. LA Ballet's rendition left me a bit flat, and I have seen many versions of this classic. At $75/ticket, one should not feel that way. Westside produces professional dancers almost every year and their alumni are performing in professional troupes worldwide (at least that is what the show program claimed). After seeing them in action, I believe it!

The dancers were young, but not of an amateur level--even the tiny ones were extremely well-rehearsed. Ticket prices were reasonable (although there was no live orchestra). Overall, a very good way to spend an afternoon during the holidays!

3 of us went to see this production. My daughter and I go every year, and look for new productions. The website had promoted this well, and we decided to take a chance. We were extremely disappointed. The website should have stated that this was a children's production. I think the nutcracker must have been a whole 11! Additionally, the audience was full of crying, whining children, and rude ushers yelling at people to stop taping it with their cell phones, right in the middle of the dancing. We left at intermission. I'm sure if I was a parent of one of the little darlings I would have been proud. However, as a person expecting to see a professional production, it was anything but.

I went just wanting to see the Nutcracker again. The show surpassed my expectations! The choreography was new, the costumes were beautiful, the dancing superb and the energy from the performers was out of this world. I recommend this show to anyone who has remotely enjoyed the Nutcracker at some time in their lives. I will be back next year! BRAVO!!!!
