Interesting intimate venue off broadway. Black murder mystery with complex plot line, you need to concetrate to get the story. Good performances, leading lady has only missed 4 performances in the last 22 years! worried that there may be a blurred line between her and her character!

Entertaining, a little confusing, detective was a little hard to hear. He mumbled sometimes and turned away too much from the audience. the actress in the lead was excellent. Overall, I would recommend this to everyone.

With the introduction of the characters comes an immediate sense of foreboding. You know right away that something's amiss, and throughout the play you try and try to figure it out. Watching the play, for me, was like watching a Mary Higgins Clark murder mystery come to life. There's tragedy, deception, falsehood, illusion and confusion. It's dreadful in the beginning. The jokes are hit and miss, the dialogue is a bit confusing and at times inaudible; the whole plot seems like a muddled mess, but right before the intermission, things start to come together, and by the time you've returned to your seat, you can't wait to see how it will all end. Being my first play in New York, I found the atmosphere to be surprisingly casual. All the music is pre - recorded, and most of the audience wore t - shirts and jeans. So, it really was like sitting in someone's livingroom, watching drama ensue. Bravo!

Play was disjointed. This play may be a long running event, but it's time has come. The audience did not know what to do. In fact they were not sure the play had ended when it did..

my friends and I go to NYC every year for a girls weekend and always do one or two Broadway plays - this time we decided to try something different as we had seen most of the current Broadway plays so we picked Perfect Crime. It was confusing, poorly written, poorly acted, a total disappointment. The leading lady has performed over 8,000 times and should have stopped at 2. She screamed her lines and seemed to think that the entire play was about her. The small theater was only half full, the people of around us were voicing their disappointment and the cast only received a cursory slap at the end. I've seen better at local community theater.

This play was terrible and the acting not much better. It made no sense what-so-ever and we were left wondering what happened. We thought maybe it was just us, but we talked with other audience members who thought the play had been well enough attended to keep it going for so long only because people went back over and over just to try to make sense of it. I wish now we had sprung for a B'way show.

The Perfect Crime is an off-beat little play that doesn't really come together. The lead actress has been playing the part since 1987 and you can kind of tell. Overall it feels like the cast is a little bored and the reasons behind the "whodunnit" were obvious.

My husband and I are frequent theater goers and always enjoy the shows we see. This was the exception. It was so very hard to follow that by the end, we still didn't understand what has gone on!!!

We have seen 25+ musicals and plays on Broadway...and this was, far and away, the worst show we have seen. The show was hard to follow, the set was high school, maybe college....the actors were running on automatic.....
It was truly a huge disappointment.

My friends recommended this play to me, and they were right to do so! I was amused at times, bufuddled at other times, but ultimately I was thoroughly entertained. As with most old-fashioned mysteries, we are given a lot of information in a short period of time to try to piece together the puzzle. But if you stick with it, it all comes together for a satisfying ending. As a fan of "All My Children", my wife enjoyed Richard Shoberg's performance. I enjoyed the performance of the lead actress, Catherine Russell, who has been performing the role for over 20 years!
After passing over this play for so many years, I am glad I finally took my friend's advice and got myself some tickets. It was a very pleasant surprise.

'Sleuth' it ain't. I expected much more from “…the longest running non-musical play in history of New York theater...”. My wife is a fan of the mystery genre but was not able to follow the jumping plot. Too bad, I was hoping she would be able to explain the complicated story line to me during the intermission. However, I was never bored as it took all my concentration to keep up with the twists. I’m sure I didn’t catch all of them, but after a while I just stopped caring – sensory overload, I guess, or, it may be that none of the characters were all that likeable. On the plus side, the theater was nice and clean, but several flights of stairs above street-level, so wear comfortable shoes if you don’t use the elevator. All in all, a disappointing experience.

I was hoping this murder mystery would match the Mouse Trap which I had recently seen in London. It didn't. I found the frenetic pace of the dialouge tedious and the whole production disjointed. My wife fell asleep in the first half of the show and I fell asleep in the second half. A definitive stinker and waste of time and money.
