The opening band set the tone for the night with a mix of rockabilly and Hank Williams renditions. The Grassy Knoll Boys are also from Nashville, and led by the guitarist from BR-549. They could have played much longer--it was excellent!
Old Crow put on a high-energy show, beginning with 'Alabama High Test' and 'Carry Me Back to Virginia.' Kevin sang 'Humdinger' early in the set. Again, it was another high-energy, toe-tapping display of musical skill and ability.
Unfortunately, as it far too common of the 'Wagon Wheel' fans, the crowd behaved badly. They stood up, though it was a seated auditorium, not caring that they blocked peoples' ability to see the band or the stage. Many rushed down front and pushed their way to the railing, blocking the view of people who had paid more than $70 for good seats down front. For a while, Security made them go back, but they eventually gave up. As the show wound down, we could hear the show, but all we could see were young girls grinding as if it were a strip-joint and young boys trying desperately to shuffle to music with which they have no cultural connection.
