My son and I are not boxing fans, but this event gets us pumped every year. Each bout is three, one minute rounds. This year, 2011, there were fifteen bouts. It's pretty easy to follow what's going on in the ring and even the general admission seats have a good view of the ring. Being only one minute long, each round goes by pretty fast. Highlights from each round are played on the big screens between rounds. The refs will call a fight before anyone gets hurt. This is NOT the bloodbath that the pro fights are. This event is suitable for families, though launguage from some in the crowd, might not be. But I've never seen that as a huge problem.
**One note for the first timers in general admission seating: Look at the color of the tablecloths on the tables on the main floor. They are red and blue for IAFF and FOP. You might want to make sure you are sitting on the same end as the side you are supporting. The audience is usually very animated.
Programs are available and are reasonably priced, usually $5, so get one. It will help you follow along.
Remember that this is just for bragging rights. It is a charity event. Either way, the "Good Guys" always win.
General Admission seating is high enough to see down into the ring. I'm not sure the people sitting on the main floor will have as good of a view, but they have food servers down there.
