Let's get this out there ; I was there for Murder By Death, having never heard of Samantha Crain nor Man Man.
Samantha Crain was great- passionate, beautiful voice and an adorable personality.
Man-Man--- not my type of music- at all. We waited in the lounge for them to finish, had a few drinks, and went back into the club when they were done.
My only complaint about the MBD set was the audience- there were some very, very drunk folks who insisted upon moshing even to the slower songs, threw everyone around and made a general mess of things- I really wished that bouncers had tossed these folks out, or at the very least talked to them and calmed them down. It really did detract from the show for me.
As far as MBD's performance- what can I say? It was my first time seeing them live after having missed their July show in boston, and it will absolutely not be my last. Adam Turla's voice is just as good as on the albums, Sarah's cello-playing is phenomenal, and their passion as a band is very real and very noticeable.
I wished they'd played a few more of my favorites , but I was seriously happy that they did my favorites from their new album - Lost River, My Hill, Hard World, and Straight at the Sun for one of their 2 encore songs.
I'm not a fan of the Paradise in general, but i'd easily go back again to see them.
