Now that I've had a couple of days to really reflect back on what transpired that fateful night in T5, on a lovely Sunday evening in NYC, I can recount objectively as to how my simple mind and tiny ear drums exploded when the Darkness came on. The boys ripped through the hits of all three albums with finesse and mad guitar skills from the brothers Hawkins. While Justin's both chizzled and thoroughly inked torso strutted across the stage, my body was attacked by the pounding drums of Eddie and the bass beats of Frankie. Sadly, the night ended way too early as Love on the Rocks could've lasted another 20 or 30 mins (minus that creepy guy), easily. This was my second show in NYC, didn't think they could've top the that second Irving Plaza night last winter, but the boys surely delivered, and then some. I would see them again and again if I can, so you should too if they ever roll into your town! If they are the keepers of Rock'n'roll, then we can put our children to bed safely at night.

The Darkness rocked Newport Music Hall. It was the first time I had seen them live. I was really surprised how well they sounded live, especially the vocals. With so many songs sung in falsetto, I was expecting to be disappointed. No such concerns. Justin Hawkins hit the high notes just like on the studio recordings. The band was tight and got the crowd rocking. They kept the crowd happy playing 10 of the 11 songs on their multi-platinum debut "Permission to Land”. They played just two selections from "their second CD "One Way Ticket to Hell..." , including the songs "One Way Ticket" ( a highlight for me because of the cowbell intro, everyone needs more cowbell!) and "Hazel Eyes." They also performed the single "The Best of Me” from 2004. The band seamlessly worked in 8 new songs from their most recent masterpiece their third cd entitled "Hot Cakes." The crowd really enjoyed "I Believe in A thing Called Love” (of course!) and “Get Your Hands Off My Woman.” My favorites were "Friday Night" and "One Way Ticket." From my vantage point on the balcony above the left speaker, it was a great place to see and hear a show. My buddies and I had a great time.

I first saw the Darkness on their Permission to Land tour and thought they were great. Was worried that they might have lost something in that decade since but I was far from disappointed. Great energy the entire show and Mr. Hawkins voice was phenomenal. Seen them twice now and would gladly saddle up for another.

This band is fantastic live. Face melted still too days later. They have an awesome sense of humor and Justin Hawkins is a hilarious guy and an Excellent front man. His stage presence is cooler than capt Jack Sparrow. And he's way more bad ass.

Fantastic show, lots of energy and showmanship on stage. Great sound....would see this show many times over if I could. The UpTown is a great place to see live music. My only complaint was that it ended way too soon.

Killer show. With only 3 albums over the past 10 years, all the great songs were played over the 90 minute set. Justin Hawkins voice was in perfect form. The band was tight and sounded awesome.

Awesome band!! Great music and entertainers. The venu was perfect and could see from all areas. The Darkness is a true rock band reminds me of good old classic 70's rock!!

Wow! What a brilliant show! These guys are far better than when I saw them in 2005...or course, being sober now helps in that regard. Justin is awesome, works the crowd perfectly. Great music, great!

Unbelievable show. One of the greatest live bands ever. Justin Hawkins takes full advantage of the small venue of The Paradise, bringing fans on stage, climbing on fan's shoulders and walking through the crowd while still nailing a solo, Head stands while clapping his feet to the beat of the song, and finishing it all off by climbing up the wall, jumping off the balcony and crowd surfing back to the stage.

The rest of the band truly played their hearts out and I don't think I have ever heard them sound so good. Set list was a great mix of all three of their albums. Justin couldn't have been more serious when he opened the show with the "We are The Darkness... and we are here on business"

A must see show.

great performance, loved the show, the energy.

One major problem is I wanted to buy a Tshirt but could nto since they did not take credit cards. It's 2013, I've swiped them on a iphone beofre. JUST TAKE MY MONEY, I want to but somehting, how do you not take credit cards!?!

I cannot emphasize what a great live band The Darkness are !!! If they come to your town do yourself a favor and GO!!! Justin Hawkins is just an amazing talent , he"s fun and he"s got an incredible voice !!! i took my fiancee and my sister and her best friend - we got right up front . We had such a great time - well worth the price !!!
