Their vocals and music were very close to the recorded track, but infused energy of the performance makes this a must see event next time around.

Mars Volta did not let me down despite the rumors that the band's live shows have been regressing as of late. There was not a moment during the show where I didn't want to hug the band and thank them for the beautiful music. I would love to see this show again! :D!

TMV delivered an extremely solid performance despite Cedric (vocalist) having a bad cold.
The setlist was perfect. It was actually full of more hard-rocking thrash songs than I expected. There were a few of their slow, ambient, psychedelic songs, but the majority was hard stuff (my preference anyway). The sound was very good, with only a couple of very small issues with Cedric's mic volume.
I really loved how each member of the group had time to shine. For example, Cedric requested that the bass be raised for one song, and the bassist slapped out an amazing groove while Omar's lead guitar took a temporary backseat. The drummer was truly amazing, his energy and big smile a sight to behold. Keyboards and percussion were perfect as well.
The only disappointment was the lack of encore, but that was understandable. Cedric was really quite sick. He had to blow his nose and drink hot tea the entire show and said he felt nauseated. All things considered, he did an amazing job!

I would never pass up a Mars Volta show but this last show was below average quality. There was no warm up band and yet they only played for about an hour and 40 minutes. They only played one song from Frances the Mutes and were unresponsive to the "one more song" request. They also should stop using stage lights that are more intense than staring into the sun. It deters viewers from actually viewing.

I love this band! This is my 3rd year in a row seeing them live, and I enjoy their show every year! Cedric (the lead singer) was not as wild and upbeat as he usually is, but his voice was incredible. And he still threw in some unforgettable dance moves. :-) Their music is so good, you cant help but dance with him. Until the last song, they had to cut it short because his voice was hurting.
Basically, they know how to put on an amazing show. No doubt about it.
Swing your hips, not your fists.
See you guys next year! ;-)

First they came out to some old school Mexican dual music. They preformed for about twenty minutes and then some drunk guy was moshing and had to get taken out by security guards. Even cedric commented on that. Some point in the show the bassist pulls out this face melting solo that was great to see a bass solo for once. One thing I do really remener is that cedric was spitting soooo much and had fresh cups of tea or whatever brought to him every five minutes. Hahaha. Omar was very fun to watch he kept doing weird shuffles and head shakes. Very cool. They played their last song and the jumped up and ran off. Next thing I know the staff was tearing equiptment down and throwing picks and sticks to the fans. I got down there too late and I didn't get a thing. But I did get to see one of the best bands ever.

An Amazing Show To Go See, Besides The Idiots In The Crowd (A Fight Right Up Front, Someone Throwing a Empty Beer Cup On Stage) It was An Amazing Show.
The Same As The Last Time I've Went To Go Watch Them, Cedric Loses His Voice Toward The End and Stars Hitting Some Un-Godly Notes.
Tight Set, Slimmed Down Band Lineup, INSANE LIGHT SHOW!!!

Overall i really enjoyed the show, but there were a few things I was disappointed with. The first of which was how short it was. The Mars Volta actually began to play at around 8:15pm, which was fine, but the show ended at around 9:30pm. Now to me this seems like a very short show for a $35 ticket. When the show ended it came as a bit of a shock, because they just left the stage and immediately began to pack up their equipment. They didn't do an encore even though everyone in the room was chanting for one. The final point that upset me was that because of the style of music that the Mars Volta plays I don't think the room was suited for it, the music sounded really distorted, even for a live show. Now for the good stuff, the stage performance and light show where fantastic, and the venue was great too, although I wish they would have played L'Via L'Viaquez.

They played songs I've never heard live, they opened with Son et Lemier and followed that up with inertiatic ESP! They played a song off of Missing Chromosome, and a song off of Frances. They played music from every album. I could not have asked for a better concert experience. Jaun tore it up on the bass, Omar was spectacular, Thomas kicked out the jams, and Cedric sounded the best I've heard him. Very memorable show, and very intimate. They played just under 2 hours, but it was all quality music.

The Mars Volta was amazing, as always. The stage was too small for the entire band to perform, so only 5 people played at last night's show. This could have part of the reason why they had only played for just over an hour. I would suggest that The Mars Volta play at a venue like The Emerald Ballroom in Mount Clemens, Mi next time they come around the Metro Detroit area. The Emerald Ballroom venue is larger than Clutch Cargos and the stage is much larger, which would allow room for every member of the band to perform.

Setlist: Son et lumiere, inertiatic ESP, roulette dares, cicatriz ESP, the widow, viscera eyes, aberinkula, ilyena, wax simulacra, goliath, teflon, halo of nembutals, and cotopaxi are the songs I remember. I think they played eunuch provacteur as well. @

Cedric (vocalist) seemed to have a cold or bad allergies, so he wasn't hitting some of the notes like he has when I've seen them before, but he managed to approach those parts of the in a different way that gave us a new take on the song. They played songs from each album, especially some old favorites.
This was my third time seeing TMV, and they didn't disappoint. I can't wait for them to come to Michigan again!

The show was great. The band had a high energy performance and they were incredible. They were loud and fast. I only wish the crowd, which consisted of a lot of kids, was into the show a little more. I truely believe the band feeds off the crowd, especially Cedric, and the crowd just didnt seem to get into the show. I think that has something to do with TMV not a nationally well-known band and the kids not being familiar with TMV catalog.
I rated four stars and not five only because of the show ended so abruptly. I counted an hour and twenty-five minutes for the whole set. The band stormed off the stage after Wax Simulchra and didnt come out for an encore. I think they decided not to come back out for an encore due to Cedric possibly being under the weather. He seemed to be taking in tea between every song....and I mean a piping hot cup of tea between every single song. He was blowing his nose and hawking out phlem all through the set. I imagine he was not feeling well.
Overall, I loved the show. I can wait for them to come around again, hopefully when everbody in the band is healthy.

Absolutely amazing show. Mars Volta is always punctual, they came on at 8:40 and played until like 10:20, a little short definetly would have liked to have heard more but for what they did play was just awe inspiring. There sound on stage is so crystal clear, everything from Cedric's perfect pitch voice, to Omar's wailing on the guitar, And if you have seen Mars Volta but have not seen there drummer that they have had since Bedlam of Goliath you need to see them. Thomas Prigden is his name and he is insane behind the set. Great live performance.
