A couple of hours of Bobby Charles' music passed very quickly last night, brought to life by the All-Star Lil Band of Gold, along with a little help from their friends (Dr. John, Ani DiFranko, Tommy McClean, Shannon McNally, Elvis Costello). These are guys who not only knew Bobby Charles for years, but grew up in South La. playing his music.
While the Band doesn't play many gigs during the year, every time they play, it's another lesson in Swamp Pop at its best.
