The public ice times sold out quickly so either buy tickets early or don't bother. The civic center does schedule public skate after hockey games but those are generally after 9 p.m. so the number of afternoon times are very low (perhaps they should consider increasing) which is the reason for the sell out. Although the line seemed very long, there were plenty of sizes of skates and an hour to skate was MORE than enough. I was tired after 20 minutes because skates are heavier than you think and you continually stop and go due to small children all around you...so don't go out thinking you will have room to actually practice some skating techniques. I would recommend this - but have patience with the process. It is a family friendly event for all ages.

Favorite moment: Watching my daughter and her friend have a great time, then, taking the skates off! @
