This was our first experience at Casa Manana. I was unfamiliar with this production and did not know what to expect. As it turns out, the play itself is a very flimsy plot with frequent breaks for traditional Christmas songs and dancing. In my opinion the show would have been just as enjoyable if it had been presented as a variety show without the forced writing of the play itself. That being said, I thought all the performers did a wonderful job. The Singing and choreography were topnotch, with several standout performances from the male quartet that sings throughout the show, Santa's assistant and others that escape my memory at the moment. I also want to recognize the efforts of the two elves, Jingle and Jangle, who provide the bulk of the narration of the play. They were did a great job with their roles and I wonder how much it hurt their throats to talk in the voices that they used for their characters. They were truly the real stars of the show and showed a great understanding of appealing to young children in attendance. My understanding is that Casa Manana uses a large amount of local talent in their productions and this particular effort was done through their Children's workshop. What a great training ground for future members of this profession. I would highly recommend supporting Casa Manana's continued efforts to showcase local talent at affordable prices.
