I Saw Kaiju 2 years ago at the warsaw in Brooklyn...it was epic, full crowd, everyone cheering, drinking, having fun, surrounding the ring. It was Godzilla meets the WWF. The moves were fun, the fights were long, and surprises plentiful. The Main event had a giant foam-core empire state building. At then end of the event people were sticking around, crowding the bar, hanging out, talking about the awesomeness they just saw.
Kaiju at BB Kings was none of this. The fights were boring, the combatants barely tried. Aside from a few ring dives and suplexs, the fights consisted of them dancing around, throwing cardboard pieces and slow-motions punchs that didn't even appear to connect. The set was half-a**ed, most of the all cardboard"buildings" where just milk creates, it looks like they were made a few hours before the event. Ya, they are there to get destroyed, but at least use foam core, something that appears to have some sort of solidity.
The power-ranger looking chick was pretty good, the highlight of the night, but by that point i was pretty bored. There was just a lack of effort on all parties. The vidoes of previous fights that they had playing in the background were more exciting then what was happening on stage.
On top of this, the high price of admission, the overpriced bar (even for Times Square), a run time of less than an hour and a half, and the main Heel of Kaiju (Dr Cube) didn't even fight?! Then to kick everyone out moments after it was over (not that there was much reason to stay). It Made the entire event a hugh waste of money.
I really wanted to have a good time, but, unfortunately, this was a huge letdown.
