Restorative and jubilant, frenetic and joyful; and that's just the first act, "Mercy"! Complex and rich, Mercy is thirty minutes of non-stop movements: lifting, strutting, leaping and surrendering all in the name of compassion and forgiveness. Mercy will leave you breathless even as you ask somebody to "Save a Seat for Me."
The aptly titled second act, "Hissy Fits" is antsy and anxious. With pure sensuality, the coupled dancers interpret the pleasures and throes of any relationship. Playfulness, happiness, rejection, scorn, sexiness, love and commitment are all present (plus one confirmed bachelor).
The perfect ending to the performance is "Rise". Act III will bring you to your feet to celebrate the beauty you can find during life's transitional periods that may be fraught with fear, or perhaps gracefully filled with exuberance and joy.
Choreographer Dwight Rhoden shows lightening flash brilliance with all dance forms with a dancers reach and a knowledge of the human body to interpret his vision. His ideas are textured and taut. The music selections lift the vision to an even higher plane. Thank you for sharing.
