This was our first time attending Boo at the Zoo. We took our three boys (6,4,2) on the Friday. The kids loved going to the Zoo at night and we prepared them ahead of time that they would probably not see a lot of animals, it is night time after all and most of them sleep.
Pros: good treat variety, animal education stations were great and well done, going to the zoo at night, kids loved it.
Cons: way too crowded, decorations were minimal (a constipated skeleton grunting and groaning on the john was inappropriate), people handing out treats were mostly not in costumes and seemed to spend a lot of time texting instead of interacting with kids, parking was a debacle and completely unorganized.
We will probably try this again next year to give it another shot, but will need to bring an extra person to help with our three kids. The event was so crowded that it was difficult to keep track of our pirate, spider man and darth vader among so many others clad the same way. That part was nerve racking as it was dark and way too easy to loose a child. We will try again, but I was expecting more people in costume and more decorations for the price we paid for a family of 5. It was disappointing from an adult perspective, but well worth it from a child's.
