The Nutcracker by the Carolina Ballet was spectacular. The dancers were very talented and graceful, but the orchestra really made this production shine. The music was energetic and passionate. The costumes and set design were fabulous. You get the feel of a hometown ballet with the talent and energy of a professional production. Highly recommended!

This classic ballet's emotions were certainly expressed via the principle dancers well rehearsed expressions. They brought about an ease to the audience in understanding the raw emotion shared by Giselle and her true love. The lead Wilis also did a great job in their solo numbers and expression via dance movements. Costumes and set were of course absolutely stunning!

Excellent dancing by principals and the corps carried off their demanding roles with aplomb. Great sets and lighting.

I am no ballet expert but the 2nd act was a tour de force! 21 ballerinas in wedding dresses in perfect synchronization. Amazing!

We thoroughly enjoyed the performance combining the Red Clay Ramblers and the Carolina Ballet. The program was so energetic and interesting.
The Fancy Free performance was somewhat boring and repetitive. The dancers were good, but this ballet did not capture my attention.

Not traditional ballet - so much more! Red Clay Ramblers helped make this event truly and American Ballet. My only complaint was that it was too short.

The blend of the Carolina Ballet with Bluegrass was inventive and very enjoyable. The movement and energy of the dancers was formidable. Combine that with the artistry and humor of the Red Clay Ramblers and it was a performance with no low points.

Wow. I was moved and astonished by all three pieces the company presented. I was mesmerized! I would have liked to sit through each piece a second time because there were so much beautiful choreography and so many intricate movements. I can't say which piece I liked best because they were all beautiful and fun to watch. If anyone slipped up anywhere I sure didn't notice. Also, the costuming was remarkable. It's been over 30 years since I saw a ballet but I won't make that mistake again.

Carolina Ballet has much stronger dancers than I imagined for a local ballet company, and the choreography was wonderful. We saw the Rite of Spring the night before this performance done by the Joffrey Ballet using the original choreography, costuming and scenery of the original Nijinsky performance with full (recorded) orchestra. The Carolina Ballet was such a different vision of the ballet, but equally enthralling.
The first two pieces, A Street Symphony and Idyll, were fresh and vibrant and the dancers fully on mark. I will also remember their two choreographers as names to watch for.

This is a GREAT show. The Street Symphony, which is the first part of the program, worth the ticket price in itself. Wanna see ballet danced to hip-hop music? Go. Wanna see classical ballet to music by Wagner but music that is NOT opera? Go. Wanna see dancing that makes you forget about the fact that liking Stravinsky's music is acquired taste? Go. Wanna see what backstage looks like with the rails and structures exposed? Go.

I thought this show was very cool. This was my 4 year old daughter's first ballet, and she was enthralled. The hip-hop pieces were interesting and different and illustrated that ballet isn't just traditional classical music dance.
We LOVED Idyll and thought it was beautiful. It was my daughter's favorite of the three pieces--probably because it was more what she expected with regards to "ballet".
The Rite of Spring was very dynamic. The live pianists were incredible and the athleticism of the dancers was amazing.
