Saw Maron at the Wilbur in March. Had remembered him from the 80s. Very smart, observational comedy with a keen eye. Worth seeing in person. Also, be sure to check out his WTF broadcasts. He did a meet and greet after the first show and before his next one. Personable and funny. Appreciates his fans. A great time was had by all.

Marc Maron's OUT OF THE GARAGE show was everything we expected and more. After a brief glitch in the form of a mildly deranged, extremely LOUD heckler (sitting, of course, directly behind us), the night was nothing less than fantastic. Maron's opener, Mike Campbell, brought the laughs in spite of Chuckles the Heckler, who naturally became the comics' prey. Maron was sublime, displaying his usual mix of angst, pathos, rage, and sweetness. Looking forward to his new show on IFC!

I am a fan of Maron's WTF podcast so I bought tickets to his show. I was worried that I would like his podcast better than his standup. WRONG! His show was so great - he is a genius at storytelling.

I'd seen Marc Maron live before, and am a regular listener to his WTF podcast so I had an idea of what to expect going in. There were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, quite a few chuckles but also a lot of dead time or some moments that were mildly amusing, but not really hilarious. Maron made a point of saying that he didn't prepare for the show, which I thought was schtick, but appeared to be the truth later on as he debated with himself about which bit to do or which direction to take the show.

Some of Maron's self-analysis is interesting and humorous and is something you don't see a lot of performers do, but I do have to confess to being a bit disappointed that he wasn't sharper or funnier. He also told several jokes/stories that I'd heard him do on his podcast before, which was a bit of a letdown since I knew the punchlines ahead of time. Part of why I like to see performers live is that I get a chance to see them perform material I haven't seen or heard before.

All in all, this was a good performance but not a great one. I'd still see Maron again but will hope next time he does newer material.

I was familiar with Marc as a comedian prior to him becoming the podcast celebrity he is today and so I have followed him for several years. This is my second time seeing Marc live and although in a theater, as opposed to a comedy club where I first saw him, the venue is less personal, Marc does a great job of connecting with the audience.
I still read about Marc's comedy not being for everyone and maybe in the past that was true. Marc has a certain air of sadness, anger and a well wrought personal intensity that he brings to the stage that makes for a very personal experience for the audience. As his star continues to grow, Marc approaches his past with a growing revere for himself and other comedians that results in a humorous reflection accented with his characteristic undertones of sarcasm, narcissism and self-doubt. Overall, I was impressed with how generally happy he was and can't wait until he comes back to SF.

I've wanted to see Marc Maron for years, and he was even better than I expected. He touches the audience on so many levels, and transforms the tragedies of life into comedies. In fact what he does is more than comedy--it's tragicomedy.

I laughed for 2 hrs. My friend laughed for 2 hrs. Everyone around us laughed for 2 hrs. He was captivating: simultaneously nuanced and over the top, compassionate and angry, sarcastic and humble. You've got to see the show if he comes back.

It was well worth the ticket price and the ridiculous fees.

Sorry but I was expecting some context, something human, something funny, something worth the money I spent. Instead I watched the opposite unfold onstage for about 10 minutes and then I walked out. It was nothing but vulgar filled rants and emails with nothing of comedic substance or value. I was so disappointed. I'm sure Marc could be funny but this show bombed. I won't be seeing him again.

I may have not have listened to every previous WTF Live but I could not believe how freakin' funny this was on Sat night. After Marc's standup show I thought it would be difficult to top. I was competely wrong. It was over the top. The panel was awesome! (I have to see Sue Costello's One Woman Show). They were all excellent. Bergeron was on fire - he had Marc in stitches. Too bad it went a tad long early. I would've like to have heard more of DJ Savage.

You could definitely feel the love among the panel. They've all seen some $hit together. It made for a very heartfelt and funny WTF Live.

Mike Lawrence did an excellent job kicking things off. His reference to NYC chilled the room a tad but that seemed partially self-imposed. No need to linger on it. We were easily back on track with him and had many good laughs.

Marc was awesome. His neurotic self-awareness is hilarious in its own right. His story about little league is classic. I only see his show getting better as the year progresses. I love is laid back, conversational style. No gimmics....just laughs.

Wang Centah...that's funny.

The show was funny as expected and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However we were sat at the other side of the table, so we had to crane our necks around to see the performers. On top of that we were jammed in with six people.

Marc Maron totally delivered the goods at Bogart's. Fans of WTF especially will love it, but you don't need to know the podcast at all to have a great time with Marc. Drove a long distance to catch the show and am so glad I did. Mike Lawrence the opener was also hilarious and lovable.

I went to see Marc Maron at Venue on Saturday night expecting that as a stand-up comedy show, I was going to have a seat to sit in. Guess again....a nightclub doesn`t have seating at the back of the room and half the people at the event had to stand for two hours through the whole thing. What were the organizers thinking. Anyways, Marc and his opener did a good job of keeping everyone entertained. Marc seemed a bit scattered though, more than usual.

Went to see Marc Maron with my husband who is an avid listener. Having said that, I had never heard of him before and had no idea what to expect. The show was fantastic. First, the opening comic was hysterical. People were dying laughing. When Marc came out, he seemed too take a little while to read the crowd. People were clearly thrilled to be in the same room as him. Seems as though he truly touches people in their day to day lives and it was exciting to hear from him in person. I thought he was brilliant, edgy and his overall self-depricating style made for an incredibly entertaining evening. His accessibility after the show was cool, too. Great date night.

Granted, I am one of Marc Maron's hardcore fans. This show actually surprised me with the way the audience connected with his topics and persona. Usually Mid-West crowds are more reserved and quiet - a.k.a. boring.
