Excellent production of Madame Butterfly...orchestra, acting, singing, sets, lighting...recommend Miami Lyric Oera to ALL !!!!!!

The female lead was terrific. The male lead was sometimes too soft for the orchestra.
For the money you could not beat it though.

Absolutely fantastic, the voices were incredible even though some of the softer tones were drowned by te orchestra, but I can't blame them since the space was so reduced.
Technical errors were very few but I mention them for the next performance.
1. The cover (hat-cap) of an officer can not be placed facing up because the top will get dirty.
2. The Japanese women were walking like westerners instead of dragging very short steps in their kimonos.

I love MLO because of the small theaters they perform in, which gives excellent visibility for the performers and the orchestra as well. The quality of the entire company is second to none in my opinion, and MLO beats the overdone large opera performances that lack sound and character.
