Not the same Bill you see on TV, for better and for worse. Over the top sexual related comments undermine the brilliant political and religious observations. Was dissappointed how easily he lost his cool with a heckler, which the theater did not dipsose of properly. Otherwise, it was pure Bill demonstrating why he's one of the smartest people on television, and why we're some of the dumbest people on the planet for watching so much of it.

Bill Maher is so funny! I've been watching him on HBO for a couple of years and I couldn't wait to see him live. It was well worth it. I would definately see him again.

Although the event was terrific, the venue, was less than satisfactory. The tables of twelve on the floor was horrific, much too close together with people 360 degrees around you and in your face. I will not be looking to go to another event at the Wilbur Theatre anytime soon!

Great show! He pulled out all the stops. My only complaint is it wasn't long enough. Start time was scheduled for 10:00pm. Bill took the stage at about 10:17. The show ended at 11:35. There was one woman who tried to take over the show. Bill put her in her place.
If you are a fan, you will really like this show.

I thought the show was very entertaining, my husband and I watch him every Friday
night and we both had a great time, but I did think he crossed the line with an audience
member when he addressed her in a very offense manner, my husband disagrees
with me, but then again, he's not female.

A Republican friend reviewed Bill Maher's recent show (10/23) under my name and gave it a D grade (there's a surprise!). I'm (Cath, with a sense of humor and somewhat more liberal views) going for a B+ grade. OK, let's have some new material about Obama's 2009+ goals, policies, etc. but hey, let's face it, GW Bush and Palin are still a comedian's dream ... plenty of excellent material there from those two, and will be for the next decade I should imagine. Go Bill ... and next time, please can we have an encore, esp. for our Repub. friends out there?!!

he is very smart and funny but, it was kind of a short show for 71 $
It started after 10pm and was over at 11.30pm.
I was at the third table from stage , tables were very narrow, very sardine like sitting.
It was nice to have drinks come to our table, etc. It is good to see him once but, i would not go again.

This was my first standup comedy event and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it was definitely worth the 50 odd bucks for the tickets. I have always enjoyed Bill Maher's sense of humor and I laughed throughout the show.
I noticed some people were visibly upset by his comments on religion which I found a little strange because he's pretty vocal about his anti-religion jokes and it sort of comes as a package deal.. and people were offended as though they weren't expecting it.. like really folks stay home.. why did you bother to come..
Also it seemed from Maher's reaction that the Boston audience was a touch sensitive.. specially about the MJ jokes (which were very few and far between) but still..

The show started a little late but that worked out for us as we were also running late. But as soon as he started it was nonstop for over an hour. If you are a fan of Bill I trully recommended it. One must know his routine is NOT suitable for everybody and it might offend a few people... I particularly enjoy how smart and clever he is! His jokes ar funny because he is not afarid to tell the truth just how it is! He is Great! Awesome show!

I love Bill Maher, watch all his shows on HBO and I thought the show in Boston would be something similar. But I was really delighted that it was much better, funnier, bolder and in general, very entertaining. Also, he looked much younger and more handsome than on TV .

Bill Maher put on a great show and in my opinion, was well worth the ticket price. His comedy may not be for everyone, but he does make some good points. His humor is fueled mostly by political and religious issues, and though I may not agree with everything he said, it was still funny. He did what a comedian is supposed to do: make me laugh out loud! :)
Now the actual theater itself could use some work. The acoustics were horrible and it took my ear some time to get used to. I don't know how this could be fixed, because I don't know much about sound and acoustics, but I do know it sounded bad. I can’t imagine what music would sound like!
My husband and I had great seats down by the stage where the tables were located, but they really did pack us in there. We were comfortable, but I did hear some grumblings before the show from a few others sitting around us. Now on to the drinks.....$9 dollars for one drink and $4 for a bottle of water! I think they charge way too much for their alcohol, but then again, they aren't a bar. They are there to showcase artists, not get their patrons drunk. Still, I do believe they should come down on their drink prices.
Overall, my husband and I had a fun night out and we both would go back to see any comedian there that we liked.

He was right on about religion, politics, and everything else. He had a lot of new material and kepy my husband and I in stitches the whole night. The show was really too short! The seats were great considering I didn't know the layout of the Wilbur when I order the tickets.
