Favorite moment: Hearing "Phantom Limb" live. Or the Neil Young "Helpless" cover: my favorite contemporary band covering one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. @
Setlist: Gone for Good, Girl on the Wing, Phantom Limb, Helpless (Neil Young Cover), a Beach Boys Cover, some new material, Sea Legs, Sleeping Lessons, Red Rabbits, New Slang @
Opening act(s): The Delta Spirit @
Before this concert (the first time I'd seen The Shins live) I'd heard from friends that their live performances were underwhelming. This couldn't be further from the truth. While the crowd seemed disappointed that they didn't play "Australia", everyone was really enthusiastic about the whole performance. Delta Spirit, the opener, warmed people up nicely and put on quite a show at the end of their set (the lead singer smashed his guitar). Since I'm a huge fan of The Shins, I think I'd probably have enjoyed the concert even if it had been lousy. It was phenomenal, though, which made the whole experience that much more incredible.
