The lighting was gorgeous. The scrim was a great choice and provided a romantic glow during softer songs. Brand New performs better than they sound on their album. Back to the lighting - it synced up so well with the music. Bright lights woke me up at intense moments (thank you - sometimes a late concert can make me sleepy). It was good to hear a few of the oldies.

I must admit, i do have a bias. Brand New is by and far my favorite band. The only reason I haven't givien a Five Star rating is because of the opening acts. Crime in Stereo had mostly good songs, albeit they were a little sloppy, but that can mostly be blamed on their sound guy. Glassjaw was just weird. The songs they played were all "scream" songs and for some reason the only member of the band who faced the audience at any point in time was the singer. I was more entertained by the 350 lb security guard picking people up off the floor from the mosh pits than Glassjaw's set. just not my style. Brand New on the other hand was great. I've seen them 3 times already and this was by far the best show they have put on. It's easy to tell that the band as a whole is more comfortable playing smaller venues, such as the House of Blues. The front man, Jesse Lacey, was talkative in between some songs and was cracking jokes about his guitar and the audience. They put on a really awesome show, which is nothing new, but it felt alot more well rounded this time around. Brand New seems to have perfected their older songs (Your Favorite Weapon, Deja Entendu) and they're having fun with their newer ones (Devil and God, Daisy). The songs they played best were "Okay I believe you" and Quiet things" just because they are so used to playing them. they changed a few chord progressions and carried the vocals out differently, and it worked out beautifully. On the newer songs you could tell they were still toying around with them. when they played "Limousine", it was just Jesse Lacey alone on the stage until the outro guitar solo, and during "Sowing Season" instead of screaming "yeah" during the chorus, Lacey switched it up and instead shouted "no." it was a fairly stark contrast to the normally hopeful song and it was also pretty funny to hear the whole audience screaming "yeah!" and having Lacey wait them out only to confuse them with a new lyric to an established song. This was definately a great performance, and the only problem that I had with the venue was that i was stuck on the mezzanine, and the balcony was hanging down in front of me so that I could just see the band, and not the screen show that they were playing throughout the show behind them, which i had read about and was looking forward to seeing. But with all it's faults, this was a great show, with time and money well spent.

I've seen Brand New about 5 or 6 times, i've seen them in different venues in different states. this was by far the best Brand New show i've been to. any real Brand New fan would have the most amazing time at these shows ecxpecialy if you've been around since Your Favorite Weapon. I have not one negative thing to say about this show. Crime in Stereo was ok and Glass Jaw was sick but Brand New owned the show obvisouly since they were the headliner but i've been to tones a shows where the opening bands stole the show but this by no means true with this show Laceys voice is better then ever. all i have to say is look out for the strat and get ready to dance

Brand New sells out everytime they come to Boston so i was siked when I finally got to see them. Awesome set featuring songs from all of their old albums plus a bunch from their new release Daisy. They brought along an extra guitarist and drummer to help make songs fuller which was cool. Only gripe was that the second floor mezz at the HOB has a horrible view of the stage unless you are right at the edge, so get there early to get a spot.

Definitely the highlight of this show was Brand New. The first band, Crime In Stereo was decent, the lead singer was a little awkward (almost like he was trying too hard), but I'd probably watch them again if they were supporting another band I wanted to see. I was thoroughly disappointed by Glassjaw's performance, they are a good band, but I find it hard to pay attention to a band who keeps the lights low through the entire performance and plays with their back to the crowd the entire time. I probably wouldn't go see them again, I just wasn't impressed. Brand New however, never fails to impress me, and in all the times I have seen Brand New I have NEVER heard Jesse Lacey say thank you more in a set than I did last night. It was absolutely refreshing to hear that, considering I have always heard about how mean he is and so on. I was completely satisfied with the mix of songs that they played (a little bit of everything from Your Favorite Weapon to Daisy), which I hope left everyone happy at the end of the night. If you've never seen Brand New, definitely do, it's always worth the time, money, and energy!

Holy crap. Two hour set. They are awesome. I'm not very good at concert reviews, but they put together a really interesting show, between the lights and the images on the backdrop and the transitions between their songs. Third time I've seen them this year and by far the best show of the three.

So Glassjaw is pretty awesome, it was nice finally seeing them. Heard a lot of wishes that they played a more diverse set list but hey was still a nice performance. Brand New was nice as well, I don't understand why they waited so long to start playing that was kind of dumb and frustrating. Anyways they mixed up their set with old and new material pretty well. Towards the end they really mellowed out and the crowd chilled down.

We missed Crime in Stereo, so i can't comment on their performance......
Glassjaw was phenomenal, although the set was shorter than I would have liked. There was just the right amount of screaming and the sound was amazing. (If this was any other venue, the screaming may have been too much. The acoustics at HOB are great.)
Brand New knocked me off my feet. They did a lot of their old stuff, which was kind of a surprise and sounded fantastic. My only complaint was that Jesus Christ was cut short....... I can't wait to go again!

It was my first time seeing Brand New. I was very glad it wasn't cancelled because of the nor easter we had that caused a lot of flooding. I got my tickets 2 months in advance because they always sell out. There were a few moments where you couldn't hear Jesse singing over the crowd's singing. That was cool.

I love the Electric Factory and I've seen Brand New a few times in Phili and Baltimore and this was by far their worst performance. I'm not a huge fan of the new cd but they did a decent amount of older songs as well. I've been listening to them since they first came out and I don't know what happened but they're just not what they used to be. They vocals were less than to be desired and they've lost their amazing poetic edge in their lyrics. Their show a few years ago with Manchester Orchestra was absolutely amazing. Sadly, this was probably my last Brand New event.
