I recently got transferred to Virginia, and when I heard the Virginia Stage Company was doing Fences, I was all over it! Was skeptical at first of a smaller local theater doing such a classic play, but after 10 minutes into it all worries were silenced. The set was outstanding, the detail and attention to the period were all there. All the actors were just pouring with passion and soul. It was like the characters jumped out of the book and appeared on stage. Even though I already knew what was going to happen, the actors presented the characters in a way that had me sitting on edge to see what they will do next. Overall an amazing show from start to finish, and if you haven't seen it, you have missed out terribly!

One of the BEST plays I have EVER seen. The cast gave an impeccable performance. I could see this play over and over and highly recommend to everyone.
Not to mention the Wells Theater is full of CHARM.

The play and the actors were very good. I was expecting a mediocre performance, but was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the second half of the play more so than the first.

This was my families first theatre experience! The set was overwhelmingly real and the actors touched my soul! My wife and I plan to become members of the Virginia Stage Company! BRAVO!
