Balanchine in black & white is remarkable: one always feels one is looking at a "well-oiled machine"...OBT did a fine job, but still, this kind of work from Balanchine leaves me cold in the end. Athletic machinery serves no purpose for the greater good that I can see.
However, his storytelling is stunning. The Prodigal Son left me in tears - like the proverbial onion being peeled, one sees more depth and dimension, more art, at every viewing.
OBT gave me a "sandwich" of beautiful bodies, an extraordinarily powerfully produced 'story', and more beautiful bodies. The "meat" in the middle was perfectly spiced. Thank you for an evening I will not forget.

Favorite moment: The Patriarch enfolding his lost son in His cloak, the turning AWAY from the audience. Such powerful, intimate forgiveness. @
