Agree with other assessment of the Watchtower song, however my favorite was seeing Neil Young and Dave Matthews reviving Stephen Foster's Oh Susannah in a fresh, exciting, listenable ballad. All was uplifting, both musically and emotionally; seeing the Arcade Fire fans giving Tony Bennett his props, and VISE VERSA!. This event was without trite out-trotting of old artists showing up for diehard fans, new bands trying to win new converts, and fans fretting over THEIR favorites. Instead, new artists stunned and won over, and the older pros brought it. It had the feeeling of a giant family reunion, where utter volunteers left well-paid, and it seemed all ticket buyers got their respective church "on". Cindy Blackman's drumming got my church on. Mumford and Sons and Arcade Fire helped me get my church on. Seeing old bearded bikers on Lawn chairs, singing along with old anthems of our generation, as well as chanting new choruses learned just that night, kids, watermelon, need i say more? For me, the ideal of a show without any of the drawbacks. Spaces between sets, while bands broke down and set up, were sometimes filled with absorbing big screen videos of the Students, the School,, Neil or Pegi Young telling you something, or enhancing awareness, or past performances, duets of such a rare caliber as to be worth the ticket. Well done.
