All around a great concert, but mostly for those who appreciate Alicia's incredible voice and band.
MSG seemed sold out and the energy was overall a 7 out of 10. The place went nuts when Beyonce came out for a short part in the middle, and the concert ended on a high note when JZ came out for the final song to sing/wrap "Empire State of Mind" with Alicia. They definitely saved the best for last.
Alicia played most of her hits, but not all of them.
I didn't think that a few of the songs at the beginning were very interesting (I assume from the new album). They lacked energy or a "hook." They were not memorable songs that one will remember. I'm biased towards concerts including all the big hits. I write this with no disrespect, as Alicia is an amazing talent and wonderful performer.
"Prayer For Forgiveness" was absolutely incredible. Alicia (playing a portable keyboard designed as a key over her shoulder) also had a dueling jam session with her incredible band guitarist (I forget his name). And of course Empire State of Mind was amazing.
Alicia played for over two hours, which I thought was admirable. I paid a lot of money for VIP tickets, and thought it was a reasonable value.
Only main complaint I have is that Alicia's Moog synth and electric piano on the right side of the stage blocked our entire view of the main piano behind it during the entire show. We were in the fourth row right of stage and looking up and toward center. It was great to see Alicia up close at the Moog a few times, but it was not worth being blocked from so many songs on the regular piano. I didn't pay a lot of money to watch Alicia on the HD monitors hanging from the ceiling. If the main piano can have an LED screen on it and move in circles, then they could have easily had the Moog piano move out of the way or go under the stage when not used. It was very annoying for what we paid for the seats.
