I'd never been to Rumsey Playfield nor to a Paul Van Dyk concert. I've never even seen anything similar to Paul Van Dyk live before, though I have plenty of live copies of songs.
The venue, I wasn't really expecting, but it was gorgeous and I loved it! Rumsey Playfield is gorgeous and the perfect place in the city for an outdoor concert. I'm definately keeping my eyes peeled for other concerts to see playing down there. It was plenty of room and i loved the fact there were bleachers and then standing room so you could sit and move back to seats when they were available. Food and Drink were reasonable considering the type of vendor. I bought a bottle of water for 2 bucks! I think though the eco friendly chick in me could have done without seeing the amount of wasted plastic cups and then the people with the postcard ad's and then watching people 2 seconds after taking one littering the ground.
Paul Van Dyk was GREAT. Loved the music, the bass sounded so amazing. It shook the bleachers. The light show and projector had be mesmerized from the get go, and I spent a lot of time with eyes glued seeing what beautiful animation could be next. I liked that he mixed in some toher familiar music into his stuff. I also loved the many attempts to get everyone involved, even though ti seemed everyone was too far drunk to get involved at that point. The singer ( thought I don't know who that was) was really great, however I think he was the most successful at getting energy from the crowd. watching the diverse crowd was also very great at this concert. Having recently been to a Flogging Molly concert, that kind of band has a particular niche, Paul Van Dyk brings a much more diverse crowd and it was really neat to see people of different ages and backgrounds around together enjoying good music. I think my only complaint might have been the fact that he played a lot of straight music, none of the songs of his I know with the great vocal tracks, and missed those songs.

Favorite moment: The last New York Song. The projector and light show plus the way they got the crowd into it, along with the singer, was wonderful! @
