There is no doubt that Dana Carvey is one of the best comedians working today. However, there were things that made me wonder. If it was almost any other comedian, going to a comedy show and having it wind up that I've heard seventy-five percent of the jokes before, mostly from a special that was five years old already, I might be more critical, but to me it was like he was doing greatest hits. In addition, I would say roughly half of the show (I didn't time it) was a Q&A with the audience. Also, he started the show by asking if it was a mostly conservative crowd which was met with cheers followed by immediate boos. It was very difficult to tell which side he was coming from with his humor and someone from the audience even asked him who he voted for, a question that he beat around the bush and did not answer. Whether he was catering to what he assumed was a conservative, Long Island audience, or was just trying to please everybody, the line is blurred and it makes me wonder. I did not get the impression from his special that he was a conservative and he did make fun of everybody equally, but this crowd was very into the Obama jokes. He's never on the east coast and when he finally is he picks Long Island? And later this month he will be in Connecticut at Foxwoods with his conservative friend Dennis Miller. I'm really not sure what to think. This man went from being one of my favorite comedians to having me now question if he's a member of the lunatic party.
