I've been a Musiq Soulchild fan since his first album, and was so glad to be able to see him in concert. His band was on point, his back-up singers held their own, and he made a night turn from regular to memorable. Donnell Rawlings got the party started with his comedy which was refreshing because it allowed the audience to get hyped up for the show. Good idea to pair the two together. Donnell was the first round of drinks to start the night off...and Musiq was the nightcap to bring it all together.
Great show...don't miss it if you don't have to.

I had high expectation of this concert being that I have been a fan of Musiq Soulchild since 2000. I didn't attend the event for Donnell Rawlings but solely for Musiq Soulchild. I was present for the comedy show and let me say that I enjoyed every minute of it. It was better than what I had hoped. The Musiq Soulchild concert was a disappointment. There was nothing about it that made me feel as if it was worth the money I spent. The band was awesome but too loud that it overpowered the singer. The backup singers sang more than the singer himself. Musiq wanted to be "creative" and turned a GOOD song into a not so great song. Musiq overdid a few tracks with his "fake" voice. I'm sure there is a proper term for this but I am not a professional, I'm just a fan. Everything about this concert was not what I expected and I've been to many concerts: John Legend, Janet Jackson, Boys II Men, and Brian McKnight just to name a few. As much as I love Musiq's songs I would not be attending another concert of his again.

I have seen Musiq perform no fewer than 10 times, and I have also met him 3. Each and every time that I have seen him perform he has been amazing. Not only is he a talented singer but it is obvious he truly has a passion for singing, and entertaining. I have heard him with different bands and background singers which as has had a variety of talent. I would say the time when I enjoyed the band the most was when he had someone name Monty on keys, and a white male with cool hair on guitar. I have not been a fan of any of his background singers up until recently when I saw him at the CIAA (in Charlotte) and he had a black male that killed it. I don't understand how anyone can say they didn't enjoy him because he truly is amazing each time. I will agree with some of the post that said that they think he could be more interactive. However, I come to hear some good music and that is definitely what he gives!

Musiq made it known that he was feeling a little under the weather and it showed, so I'll express leniency, but the concert didn't last very long, the background singers did more singing than he did, and there was little to no croud interaction.

I wouldn't recommend.

I love Musiq Soulchild since MaryGoRound LOL. He put on an amazing show and sung all his hits!!! It's very rare you go to a concert and the artist sound excatly how they sound on the CD. I cannot wait to see him again

Musiq was good. His performance was commendable at best. However, his band was too big for him and often drowned him out particularly the horn section. I applaud Musiq for trying to bring quality musicianship to the table. It just needs to be toned down a little so his vocals can take center stage.

Musiq was phenomenal!!!! He sung all of my favorite songs, the band was on point, background singers were great!!!! Would love to see him again and can't wait for him to come back to NY. Only disadvantage is that I wish he was on stage a little longer than a hour and a half.

He played all of the songs that I wanted to hear...but the show only lasted from about 7:10-9:40 (including the opener). Great show regardless!

Musiq was great. He really got the crowd going. My issue was with the venue. They removed all the tables and chairs so their was very limited seated. Most of us were jammed up together. I felt like that set was more for high school/ college group than a 25 and up crowd.

Opening act(s): The opening acts used profanity and sexual undertones! I am sure many of us did not appreciate the profanity! Avant would have been okay if he had not put his hand down his pants during his final act! I do want to recognize the band and backup singers....they were AWESOME! @

I took my daughter (16) to see Musiq Soulchild. He and his band were FANTASTIC!
He did not need an opening ACT, Musiq Soulchild was the only entertainment I wanted to see in the beautiful Orpheum Theatre in Memphis.

I HAVE MIXED REVIEWS. First off they should have started the concert on time! The sound setup and Video crew seemed to have alot of issues because the acostics were horrible for the first few songs of both Avant and MS. I did not come to see the comedian and hear his rather filthy jokes either. That was inappropriate. I totally disapprove of the stage hands, help, and whoever else sitting on the side of the stage in the back ground while the musicians performed. It made it hard to concentrate on the performance. The whole event was unprofessional at best. Avant did a good job as the headliner, but he played for almost 1.5 hours. Myself and my date paid $ to see Musiq who only played for one hour and left the stage rather abruptly to everyone's dismay. No encore song provided.. We felt rather short changed at best. The performance was ok once it got going. The attire of the hostess for the event was distasteful also...

I love Musiq and will continue to support his art. However, he is not the best live performer. His live band was more than one could ask for but his vocals left a lot to be desired. Skip the concert, buy the CD.
