This was an exciting game! Game 5 and the Hawks were a force to behold. My adoration for this team is superlative in the sense that there are no "big" words in the English language that can describe appropriately how much affection I feel towards each and every team member. Kooteny may have taken home the cup, but I don't see this as a loss at all for Portland. I can only see the positive aspects of games well-played and a team who is now seasoned to take a hit and jump back up on their feet again. In all fairness, Congrats to Kootenay for taking home the cup. Regarding the Hawks, my husband and I are hooked and have decided to become season ticket holders for sure. GO HAWKS! We love you. <HUG><HUG>

Major Junior Hockey (WHL) is high quality hockey played by future NHL stars. The Winterhawks almost overcame a 5 goal deficit in front of an insanely loud sell-out crowd of nearly 11,000 people. Anyone who lives in Portland and SW Washington should support this team. Great value for your entertainment dollar; fantastic hockey at a fraction of the cost of an NHL ticket.

What an amazing game! I'm from Detroit, Michigan and started ice skating at age five. At age 5..000 I had a hockey stick in my hand. I saw the Red Wings Production line of Gordie Howe, Red Kelley, and Sid Abel play. The Winterhawks crawl back from 6-1 to 6-5 was one of the greatest sports moments I have personally witnessed.

My husband and I went to both the Friday and Saturday games at the Rosegarden (5/6 & 5/7). Friday's game was exciting and the Hawks came out winners. Last night's game was a shocker. This game HAS to go down in history as the most poorly officiated game in Hockey history. The calls and penalties against Portland were so outweighed; it was unbelievably difficult to comprehend. Kootenay is a scrappy team who plays dirty and who does everything they can to get under their competitor's skin. The Hawks are different in that they keep their cool, play the game, and do their best to stay together and win the game. The second period was heartbreaking, but the Hawks came back in the last few moments with a goal and they didn't stop. As the third period played out, the Hawks scored again, and again, and again. Then, yet another penalty and power play was thrown our way that worked in Kootenay's favor. All I have to say is, Kootenay...if you honestly believe you won this game, you are fooling yourself. How can Kootenay believe that they honestly won this game when 90 percent of their goals were when the Hawks were down to 3 players... Unbelievable. I will say, though, that we watched the Canadian feed on Root after the game, and the commentary basically reinforced what we saw at the game. As delicately as they could, the commentators commented on how "interesting" the game was and how "unexpected" the calls were. On the local news, Mike Johnston eloquently remarked at how he hadn't seen this type of officiating in the 25 years he's been in hockey..when he could've come right out and said that it was a crooked game. GO HAWKS! We'll be there agin on Friday 5/13 in the front row to cheer you on!

Winterhawks gave it their all, but 3 terrible calls which resulted in a double minor and 2 five minute majors cost us 4 goals. Third period was unbelievable as the Hawks almost pulled it off starting the period down 6-2, coming back to 5-6 with 9 minutes left in the game. Looking forward to game 5.

Hadn't been to a Hawks games in 9 years. What a great venue, exciting team, fun fans, and great action. By chance I sat next to a college alum 24 years my junior from my alma mater. Only complaint: $8.75 beer and other high price food. Itis whatitis. Although, the pulled pork nachos could win an award. ;-)
We'll be back soon and next season! Thanks Hawks!
