I can't believe how a big name like Darryl Worley can come to this venue and not fill out the place. As a fan, I loved having such access. It was like having Darryl all to myself it was that intimate. I got to stand right up at the stage, beverage in hand, even got to shake Mr Worley's hand. But, I did feel a bit for Darryl that the crowd wasn't big and loud. He handled it like the pro that he is though and he entertained those of us that were there. He interacted with us and was completely down to Earth. I really commend Darryl for his professionalism and good nature. He is a good man. I have seen other acts play at the Glass Cactus and they have made snarky comments while on stage about the lack of audience. That can be a little uncomfortable. Afterall, what about us that did come?
I do think the GC needs to be proactive about advertising, even mix up genres and days of the week they are played. We need to continue having good artists come to Grapevine. Going anywhere else is too far a drive for a night out and a concert. But the Glass Cactus has to get people in there otherwise the word is going to get around and big name acts are going to start turning down the venue. Please don't let that happen! And when I say people, we need real fans of the music. Not just apathetic guests staying at the Gaylord for a weekly conference. I understand GCs role at the Gaylord but the place is still patronized by many residents in the local community.
Keep bringing big acts. I'd love to see Darryl Worley here again. Those that have never been to the Glass Cactus, come! You'll get a great show and an even better seat.
