Unfortunately the Shoreline Amphitheater was not a good venue to fully participate in this event. Parking, vendors, fireworks that were difficult to view, and getting out of the general public parking was an awful experience. Arriving to park one hour early got us to our reserved seats in section 203 one piece prior to the intermission. It took 30 minutes to get coffee, continually being told that as we were 5th in line it would only be a moment more. At some point it became a challenge to actually get the coffee. Upon leaving the concert/fireworks it took one hour to get to the main street.
The symphony piece we saw most of just before intermission was a parody of a radio talk show describing musician miscues as sporting penalties. Very distracting and the humor was not appreciated by many in our area who were expecting patriotic pieces. The fireworks and orchestra were not coordinated as expected.
Queen was a poor choice of music to perform.
We had looked forward to a wonderful experience and did not have it. We WILL try another venue and hope to see the SF Symphony in a more stereotypical performance in the near future.
