The great thing about attending this event was how intereactive it was. The show started at 2:30 but the theatre opened it's doors an hour earlier so that children could participate in an interactive learning season. During this season the got to hold some of the instruments, talk to musicians, learn how to conduct, and make some instruments of their own. As if that wasn't enough there were three other sections of music played, each with an introduction from the conductor. The first was from Cinderella, the second was seasonal for and great for upcoming holloween, and the final was a piece from beauty and the beast. One lucky child even won a raffle drawing and got to go on stage and conduct the symphony during one of these songs! Next came the main event, Peter and the Wolf. Now most people, me included, would think taking your child to see a symphony wouldn't be the greatest idea, the child can become bored and start fussing. But Peter and the Wolf was very interactive, each child received a specific sign pertaining to one of the animals/instruments in the story. They were encouraged to hold this sign up when they heard their part playing, and to assist those who couldn't pick up on it by ear alone there was a projector that would describe what parts were being played. All in all this was a very enjoyable event, which ran about 2.5 hours including the interactivities before the show began.
