Beautiful stallions, wonderful riders' costumes.
But that was the only constant entertainment in the Royal Lipizzaner Stallion show.
The narrator drones on throughout the show, with the history of the stallions, how they're trained, etc. This is normally very interesting, but there was more talk than show. The narrator's joke about a quiz fell in line with the evening's "lesson".
The horses' talents were held back, as they were walked out, one by one, to demonstrate a walk, canter and trot, then walked back. Then again with an added little kick and back. Then demonstrating the right or left or front or back leg change, while trotting in a circle.
This was most of the show. The end was a little more entertaining, with all eight horses trotting in circles, forming a pinwheel, back in a circle...though synched precision was not part of the choreography.
Too boring for kids, unless they've never seen a real live horse.
