This was a reduced version of Marriage of Figaro with handsome costumes, an attractive costumes and clever, if spartan, sets. No orchestra or chorus was on hand, but the pianist did a fine job accompanying the singers in this English language production which used the accomplished Martin translation.
The audience filled the small venue and obviously enjoyed the chance to see the characters close up. The acting was well thought out. The singing was not always of the caliber one would expect at Portland Opera, but it filled the bill.
There are three more performances--go while you have the chance.

Favorite moment: All of the complex finales to the individual acts were carried off with aplomb. @
