I'll start with the fact that my Husband and I left the show at intermission. The only reason we stayed is that he thought the smile on my face during the show meant that I was enjoying myself. No, really it was more of a smirk, as in - wow, this is really happening.
I read reviews that said this show was exciting and sexy, etc. Nope. Going to have to disagree on that one. Thought it was laughable. To it's credit, the older crowd seated around us were very much enjoying the show. I'm in my 30's and enjoy dancing, dancing shows on TV, etc., but this - this was almost silly. Trying to be sexy, but it didn't work. There was no design to the stage, minimal props, a small band and a couple of live singers. Having so little going on does make you focus solely on the dancers, and perhaps that's the mistake. They are put in these ridiculous scenarios - one woman dancing around multiple shirtless, oiled men... that would be silly, even for a Chipendales show. I don't blame the dancers for not being entertained as it was obv ious it had everything to do with the show's producers.
Thankfully my ticket was a 2-for-1 purchase, but at $100, I'm still very sad I wasted my money on that. I'm just horribly disappointed as I was looking forward to the show - it was my one splurge on myself and it was wasted.
