The performance was outstanding. The arrangement of the set in the center of a bullring was perfect and the performers cast a spell that made you see the background change from a street to a tavern to a mountain hideout.
The voices of all performers were captivating and brought the theme and the emotions home to the audience. The supporting actress who played Micaela had a tremendous voice. The singer who played Mercedes also carried the music with gusto.
Costumes, arrangements, orchestra, dance sequence... everything was outstanding.

This past weekend's production of Abduction From The Seraglio was entertaining and polished. The production was fun and moved easily, blending amusing stageplay with Mozart's incomparable music. All singers did a fine job, and Rezvin kept things moving briskly so that the production never lagged. An extremely enjoyable experience.

I enjoyed this opera with two exceptions......not all of the arias were translated and this was very frustrating and disappointing. It was sometimes difficult to hear and understand the speaking voices vs the singing voices. Most of the principals, however, were excellent. I was disappointed in Kostanza. Her first solo seemed to be off-key in a number of places. She did improve as the evening went on.

The minute Kostanze opened her mouth I cringed. With a vibrato through which one could drive a truck the subtle lines of flourish were lost or garbled beyond recognition. This is a voice clearly not suited to Mozart. The entire evening was lack luster witht the exception of moments by Pedrillo and Osmin. Osmin was clearly the stand out of this performance.

Great voices! All were terrific.
Symphony was excellent.

Problems were with he dialogue, which could not be heard. Also, the house lights came on with out time for intermission break. Staging, set and costumes were weak.

Entertaining opera. Had a good amount of drama and comedy which drew you in more. First act was a little slow but not boring by any means. I really enjoyed.

The Phoenix opera production of Othello was wonderful. The venue was superb. We enjoyed the orchestra and the cast. Drama, Drama, Drama! Certainly one of Verdi's triumphs. We enjoyed the chat after the opera with some of the cast members. This was a Sunday afternoon that was most enjoyable.

This Otello was wonderful. Alan Glassman was perfect in the role, both from a singing and acting standpoint. Desdemona (don't recall her name) was adequate, though her singing could have been a bit stronger. All in all, a rewarding opera experience.

My 12 year old son, (who very reluctantly attended this Opera as a favor to his Grandpa), enjoyed Otello very much in spite of himself!:) I would definitely recommend this Opera to anyone who has never seen an Opera as it's a great "first time" Opera treat:)

Loved this production of Otello. One of the few Shakespeare that I have not read myself. I thoroughly enjoyed Verdi's Otello. Voices were fantastic and the music was thrilling. Recommend for the new and the old to opera, it's a great time.

OK... as hard as this is for me to admit, I enjoyed Otello. Never thought I would actually like the opera, but it was really cool. Music is awesome, voices incredible... if you are thinking of going... then go!

I purchased these tickets a few days before the event through an online sale that got me half off, so I decided to take the little lady as I figured this surprise would make her happy, and ultimately me. I was debating between the balcany and one of the front rows, left or right stage. I was hesitant about left and right stage because I figured I wouldn't be able to see the other half very well. Boy was I wrong. These seats were amazing! The only downfall was this show had subtitles for those of us that didn't speak Italian, so I had to look up top to the screen every few minutes. It was worth it however, we were up close and personal with the actors on stage and could see many little things those at the balcany could not. The opera isn't for me, but this was a spectacular show with an amazing cast and I don't regret going. Would I do it again? Probably not, but I would see a show that was in my native tongue and I didn't have to look up to the monitor to follow the story.
