This was a very big disappointment for our Mother's day celebration. This party of five could not believe what we paid $50 for. Harlem GOSPEL Choir is suposed to sign gospel music, right? Well they sang two nice contemporary Christian songs, then a nice rendition of Amazing Grace, then a gosoel song. THAT WAS IT! for Christian music. We then suffered through some nice folks being brought on stage. I don't know why. Then 15 people celebrating birthdays were brought on stage. Cool and the Gangs Celebration was sung, then something else. If you want Gospel Music avoid this show.

This was my second time going. This experience was totally different. They were disorganized with the brunch. The show started late and a good portion of the people didn't have their food. The choir seemed rushed. I found out they had another concert Freddie Jackson later at 7.

My suggestion for next Mother's Day....only do the first show or start the second show at 3 so that you are ready to let people in on time and you need an additional buffet table to help with the lines on the lower level. Use the area off the floor near where the pastries were.

I won't return for the gospel brunch and I am sure their are many others that won't. The venue is beautiful. The waiters were excellent. Leadership look at your setup.

I expected songs as those on the video from Times Square after Mikael Jackson died. So I was disappointed about the reportoir.

When they did sing, they were terrific. But there was far too little singing and way, way too much talking. The older guy (Alan?) who founded it kept coming out after every song and wasting sooooo much time. Made the audience uncomfortable, kept calling people up on stage, some who really didn't want to go. Then he gets everyone up there with a birthday in the month of April - at least 30 people, and wastes at least a half hour getting everyone to say how old they were. What on earth purpose did that serve? Plus the food was terrible and so was the service. Oh, and did I mention there were no paper towels in the ladies' room? I would never go back, nor would I recommend it.

I had a god time at the event but it was not what I expected. I was expecting a "traditional" gospel show, with a big choir and "church" singing. Instead it was a small choirs, only six people and clearly more a show to please the audience. It was ok, but not what I expected. It was also very short, just one hours. Overall not as good value for money as expected.

We had read some some superb but a few indifferent reviews but booked anyway, as BBKings was on the list, and although Blues is my thing, well, a) we were in NYC and b) would have had child care issues for an evening gig.
Are we glad that we did!!!!
Make no mistake, this is a tight and enthusiastic outfit, and each and every member of the line up that took lead could hold the show on their own. Together... Just go see.
It's a brunch gig, so not excessively long. The food is a buffet, and all four of us found it pleasant.
All in all one of the highlights of the trip. Get there early, though.

I WENT WITH FRIENDS THAT WERE IN TOWN FOR A BIRTHDAY-THIS WAS A FUN GET OUT OF YOUR SEAT, CLAP AND SING EVENT! VERY INTERACTIVE - AND IF YOU THINK IT IS JUST JESUS MUSIC-THINK AGAIN-THERE WERE FUN SONGS THAT ALL CAN SING ALONG TO. THE CHOIR WAS EXCELLENT-WARM AND INVITING. THE WAS VERY GOOD TOO - ALTHOUGH THE SHOW WAS SOLD OUT-THE STAFF HANDLED THE CROWD WELL AND WE HAD SEATS AND IN LINE FOR FOOD INSTANTLY. IT FLOWED VERY VERY WELL. MY ONLY COMPLAINT - WHERE WAS THE GRAVY? ALSO DID NOT GET TO HAVE
ANY FRUIT - IT WAS EATEN UP BEFORE I GOT TO THAT STATION. (:
