The acoustics were phenomenal and Calexico just kept on playing. I forget how many encores they played. An extensive and truly sensational show.

Power went out 4 or so songs into The Dodos set and it didn't come back on until The Fonda Theatre closed and locked their doors. Calexico did come out and play one song, apologized, then left the stage. Very disappointing.

The opening act was a good warm up for how great Calexico is! They have so much energy and the lyrics are deep. I love trumpets and accordions! They alternated between new songs and old ones from Feast of Wire and Garden Ruin. It was a good mix.

The volume was about 30 decibels above acceptable. Even if one can stand the volume, the sound is distorted by the volume. The optimum decibel level level for comprehension is 6b DB. Anything over that reduces comprehension. Anything over 110 DB is threshold of pain. The level was over 110DB, probably close to 120.
The last time Calexico was at the Fine Line, it was not this loud. I suspect that the sound volume is controlled by the venue. Even if I were to have used earplugs, it makes no sense to me.
I would only recommend this to a friend if they were to bring earplugs. An otherwise fine concert was spoiled by the ridiculous volume.

Loved hearing old and new songs. They ended on a high note, with their classic, Guero Canelo. Such awesome energy and band dynamic on stage.

Calexico is a very underated band. They have such a beautiful sound created by a very tight band that obviously enjoys playing with each other. They are one of my fave bands.

THAT was an amazing show. Insanely talented musicians, in every way shape and form. The set list was excellent. Webster Hall hosted perfectly, the ambiance, sound and performance was top notch and we are so impressed we are still talking about it today. Go see Calexico. Now.

One of my favorite bands of all time, Calexico never disappoints. They continue to make remarkable albums well over a decade into their musical careers, never repeating themselves while never losing that distinctive Calexico sound. The live shows are a blast because I love seeing how these guys put it all together, particularly all of the auxiliary instruments like the vibraphone and according, etc. These guys are real musicians. They care about the details, but are unassuming and mainly there to have a good time.
The Royale is a great venue. I was amazed to being seeing an indie-show in a swank place. It was a good sized crowd but still very easy to move around. There are bars in every corner of the room (drinks are very expensive though). Everything sounded great, not obnoxiously loud like you find in most venues. The Royale is primarily a dance club, but having these kinds of shows at this kind of venue is a great idea. I hope to see more shows here.

Essentially the same band with a couple of changes since i last saw them in Sommerville a couple or three years ago. The new album, Algiers, was front and center; and as it may be their best studio piece to date, the show was top notch. With a lead guitar who can wail like Santana and play lap guitar to fill in those pieces which delight in the slide; and new keyboard guy who is available to play in all the songs is an asset. These two replace one fellow who used to try and take both roles. With their unique lineup of instruments, masterful abilities, and playful professionalism, Calexico is at the top of its game again. Wonderful show.

i think i might be naive because we expected that when the show ticket says 8pm then the warm up band would be on at 8pm but the doors opened at 8 and then warm up band started at 9 and Calexico came on at 10 so although they were amazing- it was a Wed night and our group had to work the next day- we were exhausted by 11 and were thinking of our beds.
Calexico was amazing- the crowd was small but appreciative, however I don't know how people were able to keep from dancing. Calexico played with great energy without a break until 1115.They zoomed through their set with little to no breaks between songs.
