First off (reading prior reviews) "Doors at 7:30" does not mean the show starts at 8pm. I assumed 9pm and got there at 8. Asked a bouncer about the stage time and he had a PRINTED ITINERARY saying the band would hit around 10pm. Rather than stand in place for two hours, my date and I went to an adjacent HOB bar and sat down and had a few drinks. We wandered back in and waiting 10 minutes for the show to start. So, for all lamenting about the late start. Ask the ticket-taker... then go somewhere else and relax... don't stand on your feet for 2-3 hours waiting.
As for the show itself: We saw "Mama's Gun"... one of my favorite albums of all time.
I saw Erykah twice when she toured on this record back in 2001. Both times in Chicago. While those concerts were great, she played material from "Live" and "Baduizm" on those shows as well. "Mama's Gun" was such an impactful album I wouldn't have missed the chance to see her perform it in it's entirety.
She played the album down, in album order, with very little filler. She sounded amazing, in top form. Her band was, as usual, air tight. Highly reccomended. Badu is Queen!
