I saw these guys in Anaheim right after they released No One's First and You're Next. They played an awesome variety of songs from all of their albums. It was spectacular, probably among my top 5 favorite live performances, and I've been to quite a few. The only complaint I had was that it took a whole hour to come back out for the encore- which is really not fun when you've been standing for 6 hours already.

I have been seeing these guys for years and have never been disappointed, quite the opposite really. But this show was a bit different. The sound was not loud enough, I found myself straining to hear lyrics. The time between the first act and Modest Mouse left everyone hanging for what seemed to be forever, but was actually nothing compared to how long they made us wait for the encore. Maybe they were just trying to cull the herd a bit for the die hards, but don't make us suffer. Maybe I am just bitching cause I got off work early in Eugene to drive up, alone, and then had to drive back after the show to work again in the morning. That all being said, these guy serisouly rock and I was beyond pleased with the song selection, heaps of oldie. Loved it. So stinkin good.

Modest Mouse has been a favorite band of mine since I was 5. Going to this concert was a dream come true. I knew from the start that most of the showgoers would be Portland hipsters, but that was fine with me. I managed to get a spot at the very front on the bar. This was going to be great. Everyone there, including myself I must admit, wished that the opening band would hurry up and finish their thing so the main event could begin. However, right from the start Morning Teleportation put on a phenomenal performance. Too bad all the other people were too stuck up to see what an amazing band these guys were. They made Modest Mouse look boring, although I did have fun with them too. The virdict: Morning Teleportation put on a better performance musically, visually, and conceptionally than Modest Mouse.
