Tommy Tune is a wonder. He's still lithe, graceful, and energetic. Those are things you can't fake with cosmetic surgery and lighting. As a dancer, he's still the real thing, and he remains a consummate showman and absolutely charming stage presence.
I was also very impressed with his choice of on-stage musical support. Less was definitely more: four very skilled jazz/b'way musicians for his band and two talented singer/dancers to flesh out the numbers.
Another happy surprise was the material Mr. Tune performed. Besides the expected Broadway numbers, he added in some much more modern material, including "When September Ends" by Green Day! His stories about his past were sometimes poignant and sometimes funny, but never maudlin.
What a delightful evening! I'd go see the show again if I got the chance.
