Featured Review

A fine cross section of his latest work and also past solo/Dire Straits classics. His band was fabulous and he communicated and interacted consistently with all players. His guitar playing was distinctive and precise with plenty of improvisation all night by Mark and the band. Knopfler is as good of a songwriter as musician. 2 hours of pure joy!

Mark Knopfler and his amazing band delivered another stellar performance at the Key Arena in Seattle on 10/13/12! Each song was better than the last and his lyrics blended with his guitar better than anybody I have seen. Occasionally people can do it… but not to his standards! His band members were second to none. I was blown away and I can't wait for him to come back and play longer.

Not as good as I expected. Saw him years ago at Mtn Winery and that show was spectacular. This was too slow. Boys getting to old to play hard? I was ready to rock and it didn't happen.

Knopfler was on his game, and preformed up to, and even exceeded my expectations! The sound quality was fantastic, and the musicians were second to none! I was very happy that I attend the show, and would see him again!

Mark Knopler took us from his opening song off "Get Lucky" backwards through his solo years to his time with Dire Straits in an unforgettable review of his amazing songwriting and guitar mastery. His band was with him at every moment and clearly appreciated the man and his music. The palace is a beautiful both accoustically and with its ornate charm. What a night!

My husband is a big Mark Knopfler fan. I purchase the tickets for him about 8 months ago knowing the concert would be close to his birthday.
I was not into Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler. I only knew his music from Local Hero; which I loved.
Knopfler has to be one of the best guitarists in the world. I hated to see the concert end. He was playing with a pinched nerve. I can't imagine he could have played any better. What a talented gentleman. We will certainly see him again when he comes to NY

Great show on May 9th. Even though Knopfler was seated throughout the show the band was tight. Mark played a variety of songs from all his solo albums. Surprisingly only two from his most recent album. He opened the show with Border Reiver and closed with the beautiful Piper to the End. I really enjoyed the song Sailing to Philadelphia with Tim O'Brien accompanying Mark on vocals. Four Dire Straights songs were played. The most notable for me was Romeo and Juliet. The band then played Sultans of Swing, Brothers in Arms and So Far Away to round out the Straights tunes. Knopfler and the boys played for two hours. A sense of humor on several occasions came from Knopfler. Once when he stated " I know you came here to see me dance, and your all disappointed, but I'll just play a little guitar while confined to this stool". Knopfler explained that he 'pulled-something' in his back which confined him to the stool. The sit-down position did not deter his playing however. It was a sold out show at the Palace in Albany, and the band saluted the audience at the end with red cups of brew.

Mark Knopfler is a master musician. His music and band are first class. I did not realize how soulful his songs are. What a full sound he elicits from his band. WOW!! The light show was excellent, polished and professional. We were both thrilled at how great an evening it was. We're sorry we waited so long to see him perform live. The Palace Theatre is a beautiful house and the perfect venue.

Pieta Brown was a nice warmup. Knopfler voice and guitar work were exceptional. Backup band served him well. Enjoyed listening to Mark Knopfler after my first encounter with Dire Straits when they first visited the US in the late 70's in SF.

What a show. Mark's back might have been out but he was totally in. In the groove genius. I never got to see Dire Straits live through the years even though I listened to them more than any other artist. So seeing him at Foxwoods was a real treat. One of the best guitarist ever.

a very tight sound throughout the band. a wide selection of material. one of my favorite guitar players. his solos were amazing. would go again in a heart beat. he did leave out money for nothing, which i suppose upset some but a true m.k. fan, would rather appriciate brothers in arms, anyway.

MK's show at the Palace in Albany NY on May 9th brought to mind why this man is simply the best at what he does. The song selection was a diverse mixture of new material as well as earlier works. The sound crew did an excellent job with the fair acoustics of the old theatre. The band was made up of some of the best musicians in the business and complimented Mark's guitar playing and vocals very well. Just a great show and would not hesitate to see him again.

The guy never dropped a beat, pulled hamstring and all, he did the whole concert sitting on a stool. There was a song I didn't recognize about 3 or 4 songs in and it was typical Mark Knopfler, fantastic. The opening act played a little slower but very good too, beautiful voice and a mean bass guitar.

From the first notes of Border Reiver to the last notes of Piper to the End - and every note in between - I couldn't stop smiling if I wanted to!
We waited a long time for Mark to stop by, and it was worth it - big time!
