not the greatest entertainer. :-(
I wish he would have interacted even a tiny bit, with the audience. He only said "thank you" a few times, and that was it. He is an exceptionally talented songwriter and musician, but the show was too fast-paced (he went from song to song to song to song without much of a pause). He got into his performance well, though.. and I enjoyed that the entire band wears suits. :) Charming!
David Gray sounds just as great live, as he does on his albums - I admire and seek that out! I expected that of David Gray, as it is easily displayed through his lyrics and music.
The lighting was also undesirable. The spotlights were on the floor of the stage and tilted directly into the retinas of the audience. At one point, the lights were flashing, and it hurt my eyes, and I could tell most people stopped getting into the music at that same time out of this mild agony.
All in all, good show, LOVED the venue (Orpheum in LA).. it's a majestic-y, old-world display.. and the architecture is breathtakingly beautiful. Easy to walk through/won't get lost easily, lots of space, and clean.
