This was my second show in two days. Not an unusual thing in our household. We are a family that goes to many shows and many venues. From 924 Gilman To large shows such as this.
Green Day. Many people from this bands early days at 924 Gilman, like to dismiss them. Some say they sold out. Sold records, made a good life and living, matured from writing songs about teenage self pleasure, grew while doing so, suffered addictions and life's ups and downs along with their audience..... Yes. All yes. Some say that They miss "old Green day" On Tuesday in Berkeley, I saw old Green Day, yet older, fresher, and better and playing new music as well. There were even four or five of us with some form of Mohawks in the crowd up front. (yes I was one of them)
They are as tight as any band I have ever seen. Billy Joe was so on his game he made this awesome larger venue, seem as if it was a small club. And you were watching one of the biggest modern bands of today, play to an intimate few. Yet a moment later whip the still smallish crowd of thousands into a frenzy unlike many others. Song after song very well played. Very well loved and sang by damn near every person in that stadium. The songs that made us all feel as if someone knew how frustrated, or happy we feel came through with warmth and clarity from all members of the band.
Billy Joe, Tre, and Mike all looked happy to be home, and playing to a crowd in Berkeley. They made us feel as if they were here playing for them and they included us. We stood approximately ten feet in front of Mike all night. He looked great. He looked happy. Billy Joe looked focused and polished. Tre was his normal funny self. The two Jasons looked like they were having fun. So were we. Thanks guys. We were glad you came home too.

Favorite moment: Billy Joe lying on his back saying it felt good to be home. @
Opening act(s): Nothing negative at all, just seemingly on odd match. @
