After seeing CJ Chenier at endless venues over the past 25+ years in the NYC, Phila, NJ, DC and beyond area, I have to say that the gig at BB King's was one of the best ever! Seen him at Warmdaddy's, The Chestnut Cabaret and The Barbary in Phila. The summer series in Bridewater NJ, The Bayou in Mt Vernon, NY, Town Crier in Piedmont, NY, Mexacali Blues, the TK Club in Conshohocken, Pa, and countless other venues. He usually plays Connolly's in NYC, but the show at BB King's was a total "adrenaline plus" gig. The whole band was pumped to play this venue, and DELIVERED. What a show! What a pro! He turns Tom Waits' "Clap Hands" into a zydeco standard. And then his own stuff, and his dad's are sure fire crowd pleasers.
