A wonderful event, a wonderful venue, a wonderul evening. It's always a pleasure to see movie soundtracks preformed live thus giving the artists their due of just desrved recognition but this was special. The orchestra was over 100 strong with more than half the members actually being the musicians actually heard on the original movie soundtracks. Pixar supplied specially edited clips that either summorized an entire film or an important segment where the music was integral. It being LA, Randy Newman was actually in the audience. It was just a heart warming event celebrating the music, the artists, and Pixar. Excellent!

It was another perfect Los Angeles summer evening at the Bowl with star studded version of GUYS AND DOLLS. Scott Bakula was superb as the smooth and scheming Nathan Detroit who always lets his doll, played by the Channing like Ellen Greene.
Hearing the familiar music was great and the orchestra was fantastic!
The production overall was a joy and enjoying the summer night with friends at the Bowl was as always my favorite part of summer.

The show was great, the music was great, the food and wine (which I brought) were great and best of all the weather was stellar. And to my surprize even Jason Alexander (who I'm not particularly fond of) was also a very funny and great MC.
The only downside is that the upper seats in the Hollywood Bowl are REALLY uncomfortable so I recommend if you are going to be sitting in the 'cheap' seats that you bring or rent a cushion to prevent butt burn. This is what prevented this from being a 5star event.

Jason Alexander did good work as the host for the evening and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra was flawless, as usual, under the direction of movie maestro David Newman. It was a testimonial to the hard work that is transparent to those in the audience but evident in the result of restored film footage and musical performances that were inspirational to many generations. The addition of Lalo Schifrin was a nice touch and an apt acknowledgement of a gift from Argentina in the form of one of film and television's true music geniuses. As a bright moon rose above and behind the Bowl's bandshell on a beautiful night, it made one realize how lucky we are in Southern California to have such a venue, staffed by conscientious professionals and an orchestral presentation that is second to none.

The movie music night at the Hollywood Bowl was enjoyable but not as good as last year. The musical choices were a bit bland -- most especially "Cleopatra." There were so many good Paramount movie scores overlooked -- "For Whom the Bell Tolls," "Chinatown," "Shane," and "African Queen" among them. I hope next year's movie night will be more inspired.

My boyfriend and I are huge fans of soundtracks and when we saw that Paramount was having its 100th anniversary, we just had to go! It was absolutely amazing to see how much film has changed throughout the century. Greatest part of all was seeing Michael Giaccino, Alan Silvestri, and Lalo Schiffrin! We definitely will not be forgetting that night anytime soon!

How the HOllywood Bowl managed to synch up with Fred Astaire's delicate tap-dancing in the cut from Holiday Inn was worth the price of admission, not even to mention Jerry Lewis' conducting the empty seated orchestra in "The Bellboy," 1960.
Jason Alexander was irreverent and hilarious, and David Newman as conductor was magnetic.
The crowd was enormous. I truly had not expected such a turn out of young and old.
This filled me with love for Los Angeles in a way no sanitized new shopping mall could.
This is what Los Angeles does best and should do more of: revere your past, City of Angels.
Many people do not believe we even have one.

My beau and I enjoy The Big Picture. Even more so at a live setting, under the stars was just wonderful. Highly recommend to anyone who loves movies and has an appreciation for music.

Flawless playing and flawless presentation by the Bowl. The music was exciting and the performance was thrilling.
I would liked to have heard a little music away from the film clips, to spend some time focused on the orchestra.
I find the amplified sound to be a tiny bit less natural than I would like. I understand the pitfalls of amplifying a live, acoustic performance like this, but I believe there is still room for improvement.

Small but really professionel orchestra, very charismatic conductor.
