This was my first Cake show. I have wanted to see them for years, but they don't play Los Angeles very often. Cake brings energy to match the crowd, and works the audience very well. I would follow them everywhere if I could.

This show was on a weeknight. The good news is it was all Cake (no opening act), so got started pretty early. The band definitely rocked and the lead singer's banter was pretty entertaining. Things kind of unravelled in the second set when they decided to bring a dozen audience members on stage to do pushups and give away a t-shirt and a tree. No exaggeration this whole thing went on for at least 15 minutes after 11PM on a Wednesday night. I'd been planning to stick around for the end and the encores, but after this deal with the tree dragged on, the show completely lost its momentum and I bailed out. I would much have preferred to just see them rock it start to finish. Not a bad show, but not great...
